Maya's Review on the Knife of Never Letting Go

Tod Hewitt, a 12 year old boy, and very close to his thirteenth birthday when he will become a man, lives in Prentisstown, a small settlement in the "new world" consisting of only men. In this town, there is something called the noise. Everyone has it, and it is basically your thoughts being projected out into the world, to be heard by everyone. This makes it impossible for there to be any secrets. Or so Tod thinks...

I loved this book, because it was totally new and exciting. I liked the way that the author uncovered more and more secrets throughout the book. I don't think this book is for everyone, because it is very disturbing at times, and very gory.

Maya's Review on Mister Monday

Mister Monday is about a normal bot named Arthur, who is one day approached by to very strange people, and given some sort of clock hand. This causes all sorts if weird things to happen, and when someone comes and sets fire to the school, trying to get the clock hand back, Arthur is forced into action, and enters a house which only he can see, in an attempt to answer his many questions, and find out why he was given the clock hand, and who wants it back.

This book was okay, but I thought it was a little bit confusing, and the author didn't really explain things very clearly. The over all plot was interesting, but I didn't like the writing, and sometimes there would just be a random fact thrown in that confused me.

Maya's Review on Holes

Holes is about a boy, Stanley, who was falsely accused of stealing, and sentenced to 18 months at camp green lake, a camp for "bad boys." At camp green lake, the boys are forced to dig one whole a day, five feet deep and five feet wide. The counselors tell them it's to build character, but when Stanley finds something in the dirt, and the Warden of the camp takes great interest in it, he begins to question if there is more to the digging then just to build character.

I liked this book, but it was a little slow for me. I liked the originality of the plot, and the way Stanley's ancestors were connected to the camp. I don't think I would recommend this book to anyone in the junior high, because it was a bit young for me, but if you like an easy, simple, and interesting read, then holes is for you.

Maya's Review on Mockingjay

Mockingjay, the last book of the hunger games series, is about the war against the capital. Katniss had been rescued from her second hunger games, and brought to district 13, which really does exist. Once there, Katniss is faced with many difficult choices. Will she agree to be the face of the rebellion, even though it risks many lives?

I liked this book, even though this was my second time reading it, it was still suspenseful and exciting. I like how far out the book is, and how much room for imagination it leaves to the reader. I also like the layers of meaning in each thing that happens. The end of this book brought even more surprises, and it is my favorite part of all the books. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes fantasy and action books, and doesn't mind some gore.

Maya's Review on the Adoration of Jenna Fox

In this book, which is set in the slight future, Jenna Fox wakens from a coma to find that she can't remember anything. Slowly, she begins to find out horrifying secrets about her accident that caused the coma, and just how much of her is REAL. Jenna can remember her two friends, Kara and Locke, and has a desperate need to find them. As Jenna finds out more about her past, and her present, will she even want to live anymore?

I loved this book, because it was new and original, and exciting. I also liked how the author pictures the future, mostly in the details of medical developments, and ties it into the story. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes a fast paced thriller, but can also handle some mystery and likes to think over a book.

Maya's Review on the Last Three Book in the Anne of Green Gables Series

In the last book of the series, Anne has grown up, and the books are mostly set from the perspectives of her six children, and their friends, the new ministers kid's. Together, the children have many adventures, and spend a lot of time in Rainbow Valley, a clearing near Anne's house. In the last book, which is set solely from the perspective of Anne's youngest child Marilla, when all the kids are now young adults, but when the Great War strikes, the men go to war, and Marilla has to endure the tragedy that comes with any war.

I liked these books, especially the last, because it was really touching and interesting. I liked all of the book because they added a new perspective, and I like reading about all the kid misadventures instead of the grown up ones, because it reminded me of the first book, and I think anything kids to is bound to be more interesting to read about then what grown ups do.

Flush, Carl Hiiasen, Elya

This book is about a boy and his family. His dad looses his temper some times, and gets himself into trouble. This particular time, he sinks a boat because he claims that the boss is flushing the toilet crap into the ocean, instead of depositing it in the dump. There is this whole rush of newspaper articles, and T.V shows, about this, and he two kids, Abbey and Noah, find a way to help out. Every year the family gets a letter, saying that their Grandpa's coffin is still not abled to be transported to Florida. Whenever the kids need help, this strange old pirate guy comes to the rescue. He always appears out of nowhere. Noah befriends this woman, Shelly, who works at the boat, (which was restored. I forgot to say, it is a casino boat, gamblers, drunks, all that kinda stuff) who says that she can help them out. They have a plan, that includes flushing a lot of coloring down the toilet, and with Shelly's help, they get it done. The whole thing is cleared up, when the old pirate's identity is revealed.
This is a great book, and I did a horrible job of summarizing it, but I have a feeling that it will all clear up eventually.

The Vampire Stalker, Allison Van Diepen, Elya

This book is about a girl who is obsessed with a series about a place called Otherworld. It is also Chicago, which is where she lives. Her favorite character is named Alexander Banks, and he is the Vampire hunter. Mostly he is hunting the lead vampire named Vigo Skaar. In a surprising event, these two characters come to life, and start living their abnormal lives in the normal Chicago. Alexander stays with Amy and her family (Amy is the girl) for a while, while he learns more about the situation he is in. He reads the books about him, and learns some important facts about Vigo, the Alexander didn't know from the outside. Amy's librarian, Ms. P. learns about Alexander, and what happened, and she herself being an Otherworld fan, does her best to help Amy and Alexander to find the author, and protect her from Vigo. Vigo and Amy meet in several occasions, which are all unfortunate. All of those times but the last he gets away. Alexander's cousin James Banks and his vampire girlfriend Hannah Skaar, (Vigo's sister who is not evil) also come into the everyday Chicago, and help them out.
I have left out a lot of the important details, so you can find out on your own. I recommend this book to any vampire fans, and to Zoe G. in particular. I love this book, and hope that there is a sequel. 10:46 P.M.

Maya's Review on Anne's House of Dreams

In the next book of the series, Anne moves to her "house of dreams" with her new husband Gilbert. Together they create many happy and sad memories in the little house, and in the end, move out to a bigger place, along with their new-born baby.

This was my favorite book in the series so far, because Anne is grown up and married and it makes the stories more interesting and mature.

Maya's Review on Anne of Windy Poplars

In the fourth book of the series, Anne goes to teach at summerside high, and meets many colorful characters. Their is little Elizebeth, her young neighbor, Katherine, a fellow teacher at summerside, who Anne vows to make friends with, and many many more.

This book was written half normal, and half as if you were reading letters Anne wrote to Gilbert. I liked this because it made me feel more connected to Anne. I liked this book, as with the previous books.

Braden's post on the great escape tunnel to freedom

So far in my book my book They finished tunnel Tom which makes me very exited to see what happens. wether they escape or not or any of that stuff. How ever the main guard (rubber neck) has a suspicion that they are making a tunnel to escape.

The Knaveheart's Curse

This book is about a family of vampires who are trying to hide that they are vampires from the whole world. The daughter, Maddy feels left out from all the other kids at her school... especially a girl named Dakota, who Maddy idalizes. Maddy doesn't know what to do when Dakota has a birthday party, and she invites every one in their class, except Maddy. It doesn't help when a mysterious girl comes into their class and starts being really mean to Maddy behind her back. Then, the weird girl's cousin comes to town and befriends Maddy's older sister, Lexie. Lexie starts turning into the cousin, and Maddy tries to figure out why her sister is transforming. She thinks that the cousin is an evil vampire called the Knaveheart.
This book is kind of interesting so far, but it is also slightly babyish...

THE JANITORS BOYS:chapter#18 TINO

Jack felt air blowing on his feet and it was coming from the dark. He was scared because he thought a scary crazy man or woman with a knife would be sitting there waiting for him to come to him. Jack saw three tunnels, one to his left and two to his right. He was nervous of where he was going to end up in because one tunnel lead you to the police department.

Grey Wolf Throne Jonas

This book s called The Grey Wolf Throne. This book is by Cinda Williams Chima. It is is about Han Allister A former Street Lord turned Wizard and is at Mysterwyck Academy for wizards. While the other main character Raisa ana Mariana is at Wein House training to be a soldier. In this book Raisa gets kidnapped by Micah Bayar and Han is ordered to save her. She escapes on her own and goes back to Fellsmarch with a group of soldiers. The soldiers get killed and she gets poisoned han saves her with magic but then nearly dies himself.

spider wick chronicels by jake

the spider wick chronicles is based on on the characters who names are Jared Grace, Simon Grace, and Malory Grace. Who have moved out from new york into the country into what the three kids think looks like as if a shak on top of another few shaks the front has an rusted old ram head hanging from an old heavy nail

The Son of Neptune(part 4)by Surya

Maya's Review on Anne of the Island

In the third book of the Anne of Green Gables series, Anne heads off to Redmond College, where she meets colorful new friends, and bonds with the old. Anne is 19 years now, and must begin to seriously think about her future. Anne's life quickly becomes a whirl of studies, writing ambitions, and ever so many admirers.

This book was amazing, and I couldn't put it down. This is the first series I've read where I'm content with the slow pace of the book, and I don't expect any action or jarring things to happen. This book makes you think about real life situations, and I'm so glad to be reading this series.

Maya's Review on Anne of Avonlea

In the second book of the Anne of Green Gables series, Anne is 16 years old and beginning ti grow up. When Marilla is is asked to adopt two six year old twins, Anne manages to convince her its a good idea, and so sets out to raise quiet well behaved Dora, and loud misbehaved lovable Davy. Along with the twins, Anne begins to teach, and think more about her future.

I love this series and I think its a great story, because it's believable and the writing is so vivid, you can imagine the scenes as they are happening. I also like this book because it doesn't try to be exciting, or action packed, it just moves at its own pace and gives you a picture of what life is like for other people, in different situations.

Maya's Review on the Forgotten Warrior

This book is the latest book in the warriors series, and will be the last one I read. I love this series, but it has gone on for so long its hard to enjoy it anymore. I would recommend the earlier books to anyone who likes animal fantasy, but the latest book have been a little dull.

Spinners, Elya's Review

This book is a book that I found at a used bookstore, and I had no idea what it was about. It has some very awkward moments. It is a really good book, but I'm not sure if I would read it again. It is a bout two young spinners, who want to get married, but when the young man (who's name is a secret until the end of the book) talks to her father, the father says that the old miller also wants to marry his daughter. The spinner needs to make the woman a dress of gold to win the woman's hand, and so he tries and tries, and finally he makes the dress, but not before his leg gets cramped from spinning, and he get's sick. When he shows the dress to the father, the father says that he can still not marry his daughter, because he doesn't want his daughter to marry a man who was not long for the world. So the young woman marries the miller. But the woman is pregnant with the spinner's baby, and when she gives birth, the young man prepares to go in, and claim his child. But then he hears that the young woman is dead. And the baby was a girl.
After many years of traveling and working briefly for random families who he meets on the way, he hears of a girl, who is also a spinner, and he befriends a woman who works for the king. The woman, Elke, tells the young man about the young girl, who spins the most magnificent wool. The girl's father, boasts, about his daughter when the king wants her to come to the palace. The father goes along, and he brags that his daughter can spin straw into gold. The king hears this, and tells the man and girl, that if the room of straw wasn't spun into gold in the morning, the girl would die. The girl hates her father, and she sends him away. Elke, tells the spinner about this, and he sneaks into the room the girl is locked in, and helps her. In return, she gives him the necklace of shells that her mother gave her. The next day, the king gets greedy, and fills another, bigger room with straw, and again, the spinner comes and helps, and in return, the girl gives him the ring that her mother had given her. The third night that she was in the room, se has nothing to give the spinner in return. So he asks for her first born. The king marries the girl, and the spinner gets a little house ready. Because he had a plan. He would make the house, the bed, the dresser, the toys, and then he would leave the house for a year. Then, the girl would have her second and third children, and he would take the baby, and she would forget about it. But the plan does not go smoothly, and she wants to keep the baby too. So he tells her that if she could guess his name in three days, the baby would be hers, but if she couldn't, it would be his. The first two nights, the woman doesn't understand, she has checked all thee names in the long list... Then, the third night, she sends spies after the spinner, and he sings to himself, using his name in the song. Then, when the woman guesses the name, the name that the young woman named him so many years ago, he goes mad, and falls and dies.
This is a really sad and confusing book. It might not be a great book to do a report on.

jamie's revew of harry potter 3 blog # 8

Ron found his rat that he thought had been eaten bye Hermione's cat at Hagrids house. Hagrid was sobbing because Buckbeak ( a Hipogriph which is a magical creature ) had lost the Apeal of getting executed. later that evening The head master, The minister of magic, and The executor all came bye Hagrids hut to do what they thought was necessary. It happened then buck beak was executed. To not get in trouble the three of them harry Hermione and Ron went up Hagrids pumpkin patch when it happened.
Ron's rat was not staying still it kept wriggling in his pocket Ron kept trying to shush him but he didn't have much time because in front of them was a black wolf like dog and it charged right into Harry then went for Ron but when it charged for Ron it grabbed him and pulled him down a hole in a tree which was unfortunate for Harry and Hermione because this tree was called the womping willow which is a tree that hearts you really badly if you get close and Harry and Hermione were close so they got womped.

Scat Review by Clara

SCAT

I read a lot this week and I'm already pretty close to the end and I've hardly explained the book. It is a very complicated book. Basically Nick's biology class goes on a field trip and there's a fire and the field trip ends early and Nick's teacher goes back to get a kid's medicine and she never comes back and Nick's dad is out at war and looses an arm and so Nick decides to train left handed like his dad has to. So anyway, they thought the fire was just a small forest fire but it turns our that it was an arson. That's all I'm going to say because I don't want to spoil the rest.

Joe's review on The Dark Side

The next creepy story inside The Dark Side involves a 16 year old girl named Marie that has been stalked by a man for more than 2 years. One day, the strange man follows Marie home from school. Marie gets nervous and calls the police. When she turns back around to see if the man is still following her, he is no were to be seen. The police arrive and give Marie a ride home, when she arrives home her family is dead. Marie begins to scream and cry to see her parents killed with a message written on the wall. "You never said hi.." As she turn back around to look at the police officers, she sees them on the ground-dead. She pulls out her phone to call 911, as she dials, the man appears out of no where to snatch the hone from her. He is dressed in a trench coat and boots, glasses, bloody face and hands, holding a butcher knife covered with blood. As he is about to stab Marie, he is tackled by the almost dead police officer. (Long story short, everybody dies but Marie)
I did NOT like this story at all, way to much violence and gore. The story itself was way worse and more description. And they never explained why he was stalking her or why he wrote that writing. This was a bad story, i'll try to focus on the less bloody stories.

The Son of Neptune(part 3)by Surya

They reach Alaska some way but getting to the glacier where death is chained is harder then they thought. Percy is almost dropped off a cliff by a griffin. Hazel almost drowns in a sea of mud. Frank almost gets crushed by a big blue giant butt. Then all of them race up a glacier on the back of a cursing horse. Then when they finally reach Thanatos Hazel and Frank apparently both have to die for him to be released. Will they die or will they leave him to rot?

The Janitors Boy TiNo

Jack was locked in the theater room so he was scared and screaming crying for help. It was dark and cold. Jack picked up the wooden sword to protect his self because there were rats and it was dark so his heart was beating fast. Jack was looking for a flashlight but all he could see was wire and props from a play.

The Secret School

This book is about a girl named Ida who wants to be a teacher more then anything. To do that she has to finish the eighth grade. Sadly her teacher's mom gets sick and her teacher has to leave to take care of her and wont be coming back until next fall. Also the person in charge of the school wont get them a new teacher. so Ida wont be able the take her test to get into high school. since Ida is the smartest kid in her class her friend Tom thinks she should be the new teacher, a Secret teacher.

Artimis fowl the opal decption#2

The evil opal koibi has killed commander root and tryed to kill Artimis and butler. Holly told Artimis everything that he forgot when had a mind wipe. The way opal tryed to kill artimis was by setting off a bio bomb (a bomb that only hurts living things) in the hotel that they were staying at. Butler was hurt alot but artimis wasn't.

The School of Fear, Elya

The School of Fear is a book about four kids who have MAJOR fears that have gotten worse over the years. One is terrified of death, one is deathly afraid of bugs, spiders especially, another is horribly afraid of confined spaces, and the last has a huge fear of water. They are all sent to this school which is supposed to banish their fears, and they are sent on an unexpected adventure.
They have a great time, and a SCARY ONE. Once they get back, they learn a lot about what they did and why. They will get sent to the School of Fear for the next few summers, until they 'conquer their fears'.
I don't know why, but I can't find anything else to write about, even though this book was filled with amazing information. I recommend this book to anyone who likes some mysterious adventure...

The Exiled Queen

This book is the second book in the seven realms series. This book is by Cinda Williams Chima. In this book one of the main characters Raisa ana Mariana is hiding. Because the high wizard tried to marry her to his son which is illegal because of a law that was made a thousand years ago. So Raisa is hiding at a soldier training academy called Odens Ford. The other main character Hans "cuffs" Alister. He just found out he is a wizard and he is going to the wizard school at Odens Ford.this book is a great sequel to The Demon King and i would recommend the ages of 12 and up to this book.

Maya's Review on the Amber Spyglass

In the last book of the Golden Compass trilogy, Lyra and will travel to the land of the dead, while a great war is brewing. Lyra is the key to it all, but she doesn't know it yet. Everything, in all the worlds, depends on Will and Lyra's travels, and in the end, one great decision decides the fate of the universe.

I liked this book the most because it brings everything together, and all of the characters are so well developed that you feel like you know them, and it makes everything they do so much more interesting. I also liked the ending, because it's satisfyingly happy, but also with and undertone of sadness. I would recommend this book to anyone!
Magic tree house
Dawn of the Red Dragon

This book is an adventure and a intellagent learning book. Its fun how you learn about things that you learn about things that you don't know about like the Twister's and Japen and other things. Also you can learn cool things I think people should read this book because I think you would really like it

When Joanie became a boy

The last part of this book is pretty bad, because the group of boys that Joanie joined called the "Super Dudes" who don't know that she is girl, start doing some pretty weirdo agressive things to people, that I won't get into... Joanie goes a long with this, until she finally gets tired of the boys treating people really badly, and she tells everyone who she really is. At first no one can believe it, because she had already cut her hair seriously short... so she looked like a boy, but everyone eventually gets used to it. Janie at first isn't used to being treated like a girl again from all her classmates, but she soon learns to cope, and Joanie starts a little football thingy with a few other girls also. Joanie becomes happy that she made her own choice about being a girl, and the book ends nicely.
I would reccomend this book to people who like sadness, because there is a lot of sadness in this book. But I really liked it, although it was kind of short.

Scat by Clara

Scat
chap. 1-13
Well, a lot has happened since I last blogged. I don't think I can summerise in a lot of detail but first of all, last post, I said that Nick's friend was named Tania. Her name is actually Marta. Anny way, First, In Mrs. Starch's biology class a kid named Duane bit Mrs. Starch's pencil in two. He ate what he bit off. Then, the next day, there was a field trip and Duane didn't show up. There was a wild fire (or what they thought was a wild fire), so the field trip ended early. Mrs. Starch had her own car and so she went back to get a girl named Libby Marshal's medicine. She told the bus to leave without her, but she never came back to school. There is a whole lot more going on in the story but I don't want to make this thing too long.

Review of I am number four

I am number four is a good book for people who like alien books and movies or stuff about super heros I personally don't like super hero and alien stuff i think its weird. But I still read the book. At some parts it got very borring but when John Smith who is number four figures out he has powers it gets cool. Basically there are itergalactic bounty hunters that are trying to kill the aliens who are named and killed in order John Smith is number four. The whole book is about him trying to hide and kill the bounty hunters on the way he meets number six they become a team and take on the bounty hunters. The book is very good, I really liked it and recommend it to all readers but especially for people who like aliens and superheroes.

review of the last apprentice: Rage Of The Fallen

The last apprentice: Rage of the fallen is a very good book it is about a bunch of assassins that create a group and they all have apprentices. The apprentices are trained to be able to kill at all times with everything. They are specialized with bows especially. All of the apprentices end up dying and there is only one left he is forced to go on quests and assassin evil people. The book is very hard to understand you would have to read the first couple of books to understand whats happening. The books are very interesting and filled with action. overall you will have a very good time reading the book.

Roald Dahl's book of Ghost Stories

I started this book on Friday. I'm almost done, I only have three stories left. The first stories were really awesome, and they were kind of mysteries a little bit more than scary stories. But it was really cool because they weren't flat-out scary stories, they were just odd and unsettling.

When joanie became a Boy

Now, this story is getting kind of complicated, because Joanie joins a group of boys, who think that she is a boy, and starts doing these things that the other boys call "super dude moves," which includes: climbing up a HUGE tree, and hanging by your knees from it, and going to a random persons house, and throwing firecrackers at it... that resulted in the person's cat catching on fire and, almost diying. Janie feels really bad about that, and get seriously confused about weather she should keep being part of this group.
While this is happening, Joanie's dog gets seriously ill, and gets cancer in his stomach and leg. Joanie's mom and her, decide to take their dog to the vet to get sergury, and the dog survives, but they think that they might have to put him to sleep because of the pain!
This book is really sad, but it's also kind of addicting because it's sooo good!!

The Pistachio Prescription

At the end of the book, Cassie's parents get a divorce, and her brother, Andrew, falls out of their tree house and breaks everything in his body!! The end of the book is really sad, because her mean sister ends up being nice to her, but her parents still dislike Cassie a lot... and when Andrew falls he never gets better, and when Cassie's parents divorce, Cassie is really sad, and her mom sometimes doesn't come home until really late... What makes this story really weird, is that while all of this sad stuff is going on, Cassie becomes class president.
This book was kind of good... but it was really sad, because Cassie has a horrible life.

Joe's review on The Dark Side

I just started the new book today called The Dark Side. The Dark Side is a series of mini horror stories all in one book. I read a couple of those stories today, one of the stories I read was called The Kit Bag. A man named Mr. Johnson is a lawyer at a court, and he pronounced a convicted serial killer guilty. The next day, the criminal was sent to be hanged. As a week passed, Mr. Johnson has been experiencing a lot of unusual activities. Such as mirrors being broken, doors being slammed by it'self, and having his suit being ripped and writing "Guilty Bullshit" on it with red paint-by it'self.

Braden's post of The Great Escape Tunnel to Freedom

I am about half way through my book and I find it neat that there is no main character. I find this interesting because every book I have read has a main character.  So far the most interesting part about my book is that they were able to make giant 30 foot deep tunnels and only have one been found.

red pyramid

in this chapter carter and his sister sadie are refusing to go into the british museum so their dad could do stuff with the the profser in the museum talking pyramid busniss so he could aqurie the re pyrimad but he starts to here this sound in the dictance a expolsion out of the wall

Shayma

I was reading a book called "Princess Plot". I was told it was gonna be a good book but to me it wasn't. There wasn't enough drama and it wasn't interesting at all. I like books that have a lot of drama maybe even some going back in forth and people talking about people behind there backs. The book can't be drag on for the plot. when i know the plot early it makes me wanna read more of it and not do anything else. I think the book I'm reading called "Feed" is a lot better. It funny so far and the book cover makes me want to read it. Also the things that are being talked about in the book are very interesting to me it's a good book it was recommended to me from my friend Jonas in the 8Th grade. This is one of the first books that im reading that is really good and im looking forward to rreading more about it.

When janie became a Girl

The book i am reading so far, is about a girl who hates being herself. Janie has always wanted to be a girl, because at her old school girls were treated like they had no strength, and they were really pathetic. Janie hates that, and has always wanted to be a boy because she loves football, and she never got to do that at her old school because of the way girls were treated there.
When Janie and her family moves to a new place, and a new school... Janie is sad at first. Then, when her completely new teacher calls out attendance, she calls out John... instead of Janie. Janie at first is shocked, but then realizes that she could become a boy/John at her new school! She starts her school year as a boy named John, and soon proves that girls are just as good as boys at anything. Janie becomes mixed up though, she doesn't really want to have to pretend that she is boy that much longer with her family so close to her school.
This book is great so far, and I can't wait to find out more about janie's boy life!
this post is about a book called Inheritance. this book is by Christopher Paolini. it is the 4 fourth and final book in the inheritance series. this series is about a person who was born in a small farm town called Carvahall in Alagaesia his mom died during his birth and he doesn't know who his father is so he lived with his uncle Garrow and cousin Roran. this kingdom is ruled by Galbatorix who is the king. The main character Eragon finds a dragon in the woods and it hatches and he becomes a dragon rider. Galbatorix is a rider who killed all the other riders to become king. Eragon tries to kill Galbatorix because he sends these creatures called the Razak to find and capture Eragon and they kill Garow Eragons uncle. and so Eragon gets trained to be a dragon rider by the elves so he can kill Galbatorix.

Caught !

caught is about a girl named Victoria who is known to do crazy things that could get her in danger. since victoria's mother is away on a trip for her job she and her little sister have to stay with their grandma who they call gram. victoria and gram get into fights a lot, victoria even thinks gram is the reason her parents slit up.

i didnt get that far in the book because i just started today

the janitors boy Tino

chapter #13

Maya's Review on the Subtle Knife

In the continuation of the Golden Compass, Lyra travels through a portal in the sky to another world that is plagued by specters, smokey see through creatures that feast on adults souls, but not seen or bothered by children. Lyra meets a boy named Will, who comes from yet another world, and has his own problems and motives. Together they must solve many mysteries about the universe, Dust, and their own destinies.

I liked this book and I think it was perfectly paced and action packed. I also like that the author is not afraid to bring tragedy to the story, because in some book everything always works out perfect and happy ever after, but this author has a perfect bland and it makes the story much more believable and interesting.

The Secret School

The Secret School, the book I just finished, is about a girl named Ida Bidson who always wanted to be a teacher. She is 14, and hasn't even gotten to High School. She lives on a small farm in an isolated country, and her parents don't have enough money for her to go to High School unless she gets a scholarship. So, Ida wants to take her entrance exam really badly. At the end of the year though, her teacher's mom gets really sick, and her teacher has to leave the school. For good. Ida and her class mates don't know what to do when the school board tells them that they won't be able to get a new teacher for a year... that means that they have to just stop the whole school for a while. Ida's friend, Tom Kohl, tells Ida that she should become their 'secret' teacher. Ida tries, and succeeds. Her students love her, and she has tons of fun doing it. Then, the school board finds out. They tell Ida that she, along with the kids that she has taght have to take a huge test. Ida takes it, and everyone else does to. Her whole class succeeds, and she graduates to High School with honers, and a scholarship.
This book was great, although slightly boring at first... but I would recommend it to everyone I met!

The Pistachio Prescription

So far, in this book, a girl named Cassie (Cassandra), has horrible parents, and an awful sister. The only person in her family who is actually nice, is her brother, Andrew, and he's like, four. Cassie's mother is a braggy, mean, annoying, bratty, spoiled lady... who makes Cassie buy really weird, sparkly clothes that Cassie doesn't like, and she thinks that Cassie doesn't have any feelings. Cassie's father is a mean, nasty person, who yells all the time. In fact, the only time he is mentioned in this book, other then when he is being described, is when he yells at Cassie, or her other siblings. Cassie's sister is a spoiled brat who gets whatever she wants, and she thinks that she is the most beautiful thing in the whole world. Andrew, however, is really nice to every one, even their mom, and always defends Cassie. Well, when Cassie get's picked on by her family, the main point in the story is that she grabs a handful of pistachios... and automatically feels better! She doesn't know why though, so she tries to find out.
This book is great so far, and I would definatly recommend it to anyone.

The Amazing Invention of Hugo Cabret Elya

This book is mostly pictures, but the pictures tell the story just as much as the words do.
It is about a by named Hugo, who works with the station clocks. He lived with his father and his father was a clock maker. He found an automaton at an old museum, and he started working on it, because it needed parts. One night, the guard forgot that Hugo's father was still in the building, and locked it, trapping him inside. A fire started, and burned him up. Hugo didn't know until his uncle Claude came and took custody. He taught Hugo how to work with the station clocks. He collected clock pieces from the toys that he stole and broke open from the toy booth across the street. I have already read this book, but I don't want to give any more away to you. This book has JUST come out as a movie. I recently watched it, and it is AMAZING!
I recommend this book to everyone who has some patience with pictures.

Peter and the Shadow Thieves Elya

This book is the sequal to the Starcatchers. In this book, the Others send another kind of evil, a kind of evil not even imajined. A Shadow Thief. When people stand in the light and they cast a shadow, if Lord Ombra touches it, he can either gather information, he can take it away from them, and make them one of his followers, or he can just rid them of there shadow.
Peter follows the unwanted visitors off of the island, and hides in a folded mast on the way to England. Peter tries to find Molly, to tell and warn her of the following danger. On his quest to find her, he gets caught trying to save Tink from a bird catcher, but thee bird catcher says that Peter is lying and was trying to steel her. Peter gets thrown in jail, and only gets saved by the small amount of starstuff he has remaining in his locket. He finds Tink and Molly just in time, because Ombra and his men have already gotten to the Aster house. What Peter didn't know, was that Leonard, Molly's father, had gone to the Return, where he would return the starstuff to the heavens.
I know that this sounds really cheesy, but it is really good. I am leaving out most of thee book, so that I don't give anything away.
I recommend this to everyone, and I hope you all like it.

Peter and the Starcatchers Elya

Peter and the Starcatchers is a book that takes place before peter pan. It is about Peter and his gang of five orphans, who get on a ship which is to sail for a very long time.
On this ship, there is a great treasure, and only one person knows about it: Molly Aster. She is the daughter of Leonard Aster. There are many tight scrambles, because Molly doesn't want anyone to know that it is there, but there were several encounters. The treasure is magic, and it is in a trunk. One pirate, Alf, touched the trunk when he was carrying it abourd. He felt all of his pains go away, he felt blissfully happy, and he heard bells. One night Peter was snooping around the ship, looking for food, (real food, not the slimy live goops that they got) and he found a dark room, with two staring huge green eyes. Then, he saw it. There was a rat in midair!
Many other exciting things happen on the boat The Never Land, but even more exciting thing happen when the ship is blown off course, and the dock at a special island.
I don't want to give anything away, so I will stop there.
I love this book, it is amazing, and you can get more and more out of it the more times you read it.
I recommend this book to everyone who likes suspense and mystery.

Scat

Scat
I just started Scat, which is by the same author as flush. I don't really know what it is about, because I just started it and I am only on page three. I think the cat on the cover and the paw prints on the back might be a clue. So far, Nick, who is the main charictor, is in biology class, and has a very mean biology teacher named Mrs. Starch. Nick has a friend named Tania. That is pretty much all I know, but I think it is going to be a good book. I am on going on a Carl Hiasin streak. ( Carl Hiasin wrote Flush and Scat.

Maya's Review on the Golden Compass

The golden compass is about an eleven year old named Lyra, who grew up and orphan. One day Lyra decides to spy on a meeting of the scholars who are taking care of her, and finds out information that sets her on a strange adventure, full of witches, armored bears, and great dangers.

This was my third time reading the book and I loved it all the same. It's fast paced and suspenseful, with just the right amount of information being dangled infront of you so as to keep you interested but not give everything away.

Jordana's second review of "The Devil's Arithmetic"

Hannah, now named Chaya is shoved into the train car along with eighty other Jews from the wedding ceremony. They are in the cramped car for four days with no food, water, and very little air. Hannah being from the future knows whats coming, and tries to warn the others in the train. No one believes her though and she even starts to doubt herself, as she finds she is losing her memory of being Hannah. When she gets to the camp the women and men are separated, then Hannah and the others are made to strip and shower. After that their hair is cut and their arms are tattooed with identification numbers. They are given raged clothes and worn shoes, then taken to their barracks where bare wooden shelves serve as beds, and they cries of women and children put you to sleep. Over the next few days life at the camp becomes routine for Hannah; wake up, go to role call, eat breakfast, scrub dishes, clean barracks, eat lunch, load wood, eat dinner, roll call, go to bed. Through this, Hannah learns the spoken and unspoken rule of the camp. To keep your head down, to not ask questions, that eating comes before anything, and if you give up hope you will lose your mind. Hannah becomes close friends with a girl named Rivka, who teaches her the rules and to understand the number on her arm. Each number represents something or someone you have or you have lost, the devil's arithmetic. As Hannah lives the life of Chaya she forgets her true self entirely, except for certain phrases which trigger vague memories which she can not begin to understand. One day Hannah, Rivka, and two other girls are caught talking by a young Nazi guard. The guard selects Rivka and the other two to the smoke stack, an inferno where those that are "chosen" are sent to die. Hannah suddenly realizing who she is takes Rivka's place and walks into the fire. She is back at her families Passover Seder opening the door for Elijah the profet as if nothing had happend. When she sits back down she notices the number on her aunt Eve's arm and realizes is the same as Rivka's. After the two talk for a while Hannah learns that Eve had changed her name from Rivka to Eve when she came to America, and that a girl named Chaya had saved her life in the camp.

"The Devil's Arithmetic" is a perfect book if you have never read about the Holocaust before, and surprisingly informational without being stuffy. You really start caring about the characters and after some thought I think I know why. All of the characters (with exemption of Hannah in the beginning of the book) are noble, kind, and good. When they are in the camp the prisoners are always helping each other out, and all being molde citizens. Unfortunately that is no how life works, for example there is a scene in the "The Devil's Arithmetic" where a women is screaming and crying and someone comforts her. While in the much more mature Holocaust book "Night", a women in the same situation would have been beaten by her fellow prisoners for that. Sudle though it may be "The Devil's Arithmetic" can get away because it is a children book. So children please read it.

Maya's Review on Anne of Green Gables

Anne of Green Gables is about an orphan who gets adopted by two siblings, Marilla and Matthew Cuthbert. Anne was meant to be a boy, to help Matthew in the farm, but she grew on them so much that Marilla and Matthew decided to keep them anyway. The book is about Anne growing up, and her first five years at green gables.

I liked this book and I found it refreshing after so many action and adventure books. The book gave me a vivid picture of Anne's life and the lives of the people around her. It's a great book for anyone who wants a relaxing read.

Maya's Review on Warriors the Sign of the Moon

In the latest book of the ever so long warriors series, the cats of the clans face many hardships and betrayals, waiting for a battle that is bound to happen. The question is, whose side will the cats be on?

This was my second time reading the book, and it was fine. I like the warriors series a lot but it is starting to get a little bit old after so many books, although not enough for me to stop reading. I would recommend the series to anyone who likes animal fantasy books.

Maya's Review on the Son of Neptune

The son of Neptune is the second book in the heroes of olympus series. It is set from the perspectives of Percy, Frank, and Hazel. Percy, like Jason, has lost his memory and finds himself in the roman camp for demigods, just as Jason found himself in the greek camp. Percy Frank and Hazel must go on a quest to free death, so that monsters can be killed and order will be restored. But at what price?

I liked this book a lot because Percy was in it and I already new him form the previous series. I also admire the authors ability to hint at things or put little facts at different points in the book and then later refer to them perfectly connecting everything and making the reader think. I would recommend this series to anyone who likes greek mythology

The Mysterious Benedict society, Trenton Lee Stewart, Elya

Thus book is an amazing book, with riddles to break and mysteries to discover.
It is in a series of three, and unfortunately, this author does not regularly write kids books.
This book is about four unusually advanced kids coming together, and going on a mission.
These kids come together because of some test. There were three parts to this test, and they all past them all. They all have different reasons.
Kate Wetherall, an orphan who ran away to be in the circus, has many helpful tricks, and skills that helped her pass.
Reynie Muldoon, also an orphan, with amazing skills of concentration and patience.
Constance Contraire, another orphan with a big secret. (I wont tell you what she is good at, because it will ruin the story. I will tell you this, she has a very developed and strong mind.)
Sticky (George) Washington, a runaway, who has a photographic memory, (or the bigger kind really, where you remember everything you ever set eye on before.)
I recommend this book to pretty much anyone.

The Goose Girl, Shannon Hale, Elya

The Goose girl is a book about a princess who was never acting like a princess, being raised by her forest born aunt, and her mother (the queen) sends Anidori-Kiladra Talianna Isilee of to the neighboring country to marry the prince. Her aunt taught Ani how to speak to some kinds of birds, and tsught her that there is a forgotten language for everything.
On the long ride (horses) Ani's lady in waiting, Selia, grouped most of the Kildenrian guards, and persuaded them to join her cult, and since Selia and Ani look a lot alike Selia wanted to take her place and marry the prince instead. There is a big fight and Ani runs away,. She hides as a Forest Girl, and finds a job with the workers, as a Goose Girl. She and the workers become very good friends. Which was lucky, because she needed friends when it was time to tell her big secret.
There is SO much more to this book, but I didn't want to give too much away. I know this sounds like a girly book, but you'd be surprised. It is the first book of a series of four.
Ani learns the language of the wind, and the rest of the books are about other people (whom you learn about in the books before) who also learn the languages.
These books would be a favorite to many, and I recommend it to everyone.

Maya's Review on Book Ten of the Pendragon Series

In book ten, the last book of the series, Bobby and all of the travelers come together for the final battle with Saint Dane, on the last territory, third earth. More secrets about who the travels really are are revealed, and Bobby fights through it all, ending the series in one last battle between him and Saint Dane, just as everyone said it would. Can Bobby save the world?

I liked this book a lot, but it wasn't my favorite, because to many things were happening to fast to really sink in. I did like the conclusion though, because the author managed to leave you with questions, but also resolve all of the conflicts. Loved the series, can't wait to find some new books!

Ramona the Pest

Ramona the pest is about a 5 year old girl who is getting ready to start kinigarden. At kinagarden she learns how to read right and also chasses a boy named Davy who she wants to kiss. Ramona liked alot of things about kinagarden but most of all she loved her teacher, mrs.binney, because she understands her. Towards the end of the book ramona's tooth falls out and she gets so excided that she runs around pulling a girl named susan's curls. which gets her in alot of trouble and she had to sit outside on the bench. when she got home she told her mother that mrs.binney hated her and she couldent go back intil mrs.binney forgot about her. So she dosent go back for the rest of the week. Then at the end a boy named henrey in her class gave ramona a note from mrs.binney that said she missed her and she hoped she would come back soon.

The Penderwicks, Elya

The Penderwicks is a book about a very interesting summer. Every summer until that one, the Penderwicks had gone to some special sight. This summer, that place was booked, so the Penderwicks found somewhere else to stay.
The four sisters, (Rosalind, (oldest, 12 years old) Skye, (11 years, a tomboy, who teaches herself Algebra for FUN.. A genius), Jane, (10 years old, and an inspired writer, who has a series called Sabrina Starr.), and lastly, Batty, (Elizabeth after their mother who had died of cancer before Batty got to know her. A little adorable thing, who is in love with the family's dog, Hound.) meet this young boy, Jeffery, and the fun starts there.
I dont want to give too much away, so I'll just close this up by saying, Jeffery's mom, Mrs. Tifton, an annoying snobby brat, who wants everything in her life to be perfect, but since it isn't, she makes it her duty to make it perfect. Yelling at Cagney the gardener to make things beautiful and more professional looking than everything already is, having no dogs around, (until she finds out about Hound) and on and on...
I recommend this book to anyone, because it would work for everyone. I will look into more books by this author myself.
7:54 P.M

This book would be good for everyone, so, I reccomend it to everyone..

Joe's review on The Nobody

The Nobody has a shocking ending. Towards the end of the book, he is forced to continue his work of trying to find a cure for his sickness. But, he faced with a number of problems. His only friend, Becky, goes over to John's house every night, and begins to make the town suspicious. As large mouth grows more suspicious, they seek out for John. John is forced to hide from the town and go to Becky's house for cover. But he is followed, so he runs down to the river where he plans to take a boat to somewhere else where he will be hidden. Becky starts screaming for John not to leave. John ignores her and begins to paddles away. But before he sets sail, hes shot down by the head sheriff. Which concludes the story.

Dark Life by Kat Falls

Dark Life starts with the entire east coast dispearing underwater. The main character, Ty, meets a girl named Gemma who lived clinging to the last bits of land in one of the big "Topside" cities. She's looking for her brother, who apparently moved underwater. Gemma's a orphan. and she wants to find her brother so he can sign her release form. Meanwhile, a band of outlaws terrorize the underwater community, looting and pillaging all of the homesteads. I really enjoyed this book, even though it was a bit stupid at times. The idea of living on the ocean floor is really cool to me. I was especially excited about the fact that Ty has a little sister named Zoe who goes around catching bizzare creatures (something I would totally do). I would reccomend this book to anyone. I'm really excited to get the second book, too.

Here's the book trailer.

nasya's review of The Spoon in the Bathroom Door part 1

this book is about a girl named Martha who is the daughter of the school janitor. which causes her to get picked on by a school school bully, Rufus Turk. Rufus is also one of the reasons that everyone calls her mar-thur , even the principal Dr. klunk. In the end, they pin Dusty Muleman, and the Coral Queen goes out of business. Then, they go home, and everyone shares their story. There is also a great surprise in the end, but I'm not telling!

House of the Scorpion by Nancy Farmer, Raz

I'm reading House of the Scorpion, by Nancy Farmer - an extremely interesting book. It's the tale of Matteo Alacran, a clone of drug lord El Patron, who is the ruler of Opium, a country that has replaced Mexico.
Matt grows up in a shack in a vast land of opium farms, and is completely cut off from the outside world. The only other person he knows is Celia, his caretaker who loves him. One day when three kids walk by his window, he gets their attention and breaks out of the house. He comes to the Alacran estate, a completely different world. He is launched into adventures, at first imprisoned, and then being freed, finding secret passageways (not saying any more), and many exciting things happen.
I am at the part where El Patron is poisoned by Celia and dies, and Tam Lin (Matt's teacher and friend) helps Matt escape the Alacran empire and flees to Aztlan. I am reading more right after this post!

Maya's Review on Watership Down

The book Watership Down is about a group of wild rabbits who leave their warren, and must make a long journey to find a new one. On the way, they encounter many dangers, and sometimes come close to panic. Can this group of rabbits reach their new home?

This is one of my favorite books of all time, and this was my second time reading it. It has suspense, adventure, and a perfect mix of reality and fiction. My favorite chapter is when the rabbits meat an injured seagull, Kehaar, and help him to get better. In return, Kehaar stays with them for some time, and helps them on many occasions. I also like this book because some chapters are stories being told by one of the rabbits to the rest. Its sort of a story within a story and makes the book more interesting, because you get a chance to read what the rabbits believe, and it makes you believe them more as characters. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes animal stories.

Absolutely Normal Chaos, Elyushka

This book is a journal that a girl named Mary Lou keeps for a school project over the summer. She is supposed to do it so her new teacher will read it and know more about her.

At first, her life seems like it is off to a normal start, but then her cousin Carl Ray who she has never met comes and lives with them for a while, and the summer turns around.
Also, her best friend, Beth Ann, totally turns away from Mary Lou for a while, so she can be with her new boyfriend. Her life turns even MORE, when her all time crush starts wanting to see her.
A whole chaotic summer begins, and she suddenly thinks, "Wait, my teacher is going to read this?" and makes up her mind to change that.

I recommend this book to anyone who likes exciting mystery like puzzles, and to anyone who doesn't mind some love mush in between discoveries...

Slaughterhouse-Five by Kurt Vonegut

(also known as The Children's Crusade, but less widely)

I started reading Slaughterhouse-Five yesterday. The book started out as the narrator, a veteran, tried to collect his memories and thoughts about World War Two. Then, in the second chapter, everything changes. The narrator begins to focus no longer on himself, but a man named Bobby. Bobby has had many tragedies fall upon him, and claims that he can travel through time. I've gotten to the point where Bobby claims to his daughter that he was displayed in a zoo on Tralfmidore, a far away planet.

I've enjoyed the humor in this book, but at times it can be really confusing. How Bobby is at all related to the first chapter is somewhat mind-boggling, but I think it will be explained in the end. I would recommend this to anyone my age or older, as it has a little bit of suggestive comedy which would not be understood by people of a younger age.

Isenhour The Genie's review of The Lone Survivor chapter 1 pages 9-41

The Lone Survivor's first chapter is mostly about marcus Luttrell who is the Navi Seal Team Leader. He describes his platoon. There is Mikey, Daniel, Matthew, and Shane. Marcus says that they are all great guys and are very good in battle. I have just started this book and it seems very good. All I've heard is good thing about it. The book is about Him and his platoon going into enemy territory and Him being the only that comes out.

The Janitors Boy#11-13 TiNo

Jack thought that just because he was a janitor he can do whatever he wants to do. Like mess with the principal's computer and just mess around in school. Jack for punishment had to pull the gum of the library table. Each table had 6 to 7 pieces of gum stuck to the bottom and it was 14 tables. After Jack was done he had half a gallon of gum in a bag.

Isenhour The Genie's review of the Warriors series

The warriors series is about wild cats that live in the wild. The cats live in clans the clans fight for food and territory. All of the clans have leaders. There is the Thunder clan who's leader is Firestar. There is the Shadow clan who's leader is Blackstar. There is the Wind clan who's leader is Onestar. There is the River clan who's leader is Leopardstar. The clans all have different groups of warriors, leaders, deputy, Medicin cats, Apprentices, Queens, and Elders. The books are very entertaining. There are big epic battles with lots of action and other stuff. I thought the series was amazing there are tons of books and you never get tired of reading them. I espesially like the books because of the action and when they go out to get food for the kittens. The cats hunt mice birds and squirrels I recommend this book to all ages boys and girls.

Harry Potter and the half blood princen Emma

I only started this book tonight but so far Harry has spent the beginning of the summer with the Durslys and then went to the burrow (where Ron and the Wealy's leave). During the simmer they went o Diagon ally to get school supplies, new dress robes and books. They had to have a lot of security because Voldemort has returned to power. When they were in Diagon ally they saw Draco Malfoy in Madam Malkins robe shop and he wouldn't let her touch his left arm (the arm that would have the dark mark on it) then they saw his go to Knocktuen ally (which is an evil ally) he went into to Borgin's store and was acting funny saying that he had to fix something and keep them both safe.

So far I really like the book, I have read all of them up to the 6th book and they are a rally good series. I like the way that J.K Rolling has so much description and characterization with out making the book move really slowly and long. All the 6 books that I have read there have only been 1-2 chapters that were ok because they were on a topic that wasn't that interesting but you needed to know the facts because they came in usefully over the next book in the series.

Jordana's first review of "The Devil's Arithmetic"

The "Devil Arithmetic" is a fictional Holocaust novel written by Jane Yolen. It is about Hannah, a twelve year old jewish girl who is unsatisfied with her religion. She would much rather celebrate ester than passover, and does not understand her Holocaust surviving relatives. When they get to the synagogue there are big black cars waiting for them and Hannah realizes that they are Nazis, and that she is going to be taken away.
My mother read this book to me when I was in second grade, so I had the idea to re-read it to get a different perspective on it. I was saddened to find that it was not as I remembered, it is a relatively easy read, and the begging is down right annoying. Push through the begging though and it gets a lot better. I you have never read a Holocaust book before this would be a great book to star with. I am yet to get to the gory parts of the novel so wish me luck.

Jahliyah: The Help

I recently finished the chapters talking about Minnie Jackson. So heres what happened she was cooking in the kitchen and her boss's husband came home. But the husband didn't know his wife hierd a maid and she had been hiding it from him. So he was walking up the drive way and Minnie noticed his clothes because she irons them everyday. So Minnie ran and shouted to he boss Ms. Cecila that he was here. Then Minnie ran and heed in the guest bathroom. She was very scared and when I was reading this I was actully scared for her. Also I was surprised that she wasn't caught. So know I am starting the chapter about Skeeter and I am really intrested to learn bout her because in the movie there really wasn't alot of details but I did learn some things about her.

"whatever happened to Janie?"

The book that I just started seems to be very good so far. It is about a girl named Janie who sees her face on a milk carton, saying that she is missing. She tells a lawyer about it, and soon finds out that she was kidnapped from her real family when she was walking in a shopping mall with them. She then begins a long drive to New Jersey, where she meets her "new" family. Janie also finds, that her real, full name is: Jenny Spring... before it was Janie Johnson. She now, has three brothers, and a sister, when before... she didn't have any siblings at all!
Magic Tree House Tonight on Titanic

This is a good history book its sad and heart breaking story about the titanic. You can learn how people found half of the titanic and how they helped build it and what it looked like.I think all of you should read this book because I think is fun to learn history

Joe's Review on The Nobody

I have started a new book called The Nobody. The Nobody is about a scientist named John that moves in to the small town of Large Mouth. John has a very mysterious appearance, he wears bandages head to toe, wears gloves and goggles. As he starts to get settled in Large Mouth, he meets a young women. She becomes John's one and only friend. As the story starts to unravel, it gets even more mysterious. John begins to see the one lady everywhere he looks. Anytime she appears, she mumbles "John, help me." I really enjoy this book because it has a lot of suspense and mystery. I like how the author made the protagonist so creepy and how John interacts with the town. I have many questions that I wish to soon answer.

UNKNOWN AUTHORS

Please sign your name on your post if you are an "anonymous author" in order to receive credit!

Little Women, Louisa May Alcott.

Little Women is a very long book about a great and happy family. It tells about each of the four girl's lives. It tells about a time period that is less known to us, and explains all the hardships and triles that the family goes through. This family hnnnnjg (sorry, that was my cat Freddie walking on the keyboard.) is very religious, and it talks a lot about the differences that come along with being religious.
This book is really about Louisa growing up, and she writes a character modeled by herself.
The names aren't quite the same, but I want you to think of the girls as who the book tells them as, not who they really were.

I recommend this book to anyone who sticks to books, even if they happen to be long..

the ruby in the smoke

I finished the book, yay!!!!
At the end of the book Sally decides to meet Mrs. Holland at a lake to talk things out... but at the end of their talk, Mrs. Holland goes mad and jumps into the lake! Then, a man comes and kidnaps Sally. When the kidnaper tries to kill Sally, she shoots him with the gun that trembler gave her. After she kills him, she gets really scared and runs away. Rosa follows her, and brings her home. Then Sally drives back to where the man took her, and finds a note that her father wrote her before he died.
This book was really bad, and I am NOT going to read another book by Philipe pullman.
P.S
The man who kidnaped her was the guy who killed her father.

Harry Potter blog # 6 Jamie

Harry has just gone to hogsmead (which is where all the whiches and wizards get their sweets) with Ron but when he gets back snape (the potions teaher) finds out what Harry's done. In order to get to Hogsmead harry had to use a map that told him where certain paceges were. This map was called the mauraders map. Unfortanatly he does get it taken away but not by Snape by the ( Defence against the dark arts theacher Lupin)

review of ' The Cronicles of Narnia the Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe'

Now in the book Aslan saved all the animals the witch turned into stone, by breathing on them. then they headed back to the camp to have a war. after they won the war and the witch was dead they went to the stone table to become kings and queens of Narnia ( the four kids). years went by and they were all grown up and they took a ride thought the forest. while ridding they found a light post that looked familiar to them so they walked towards it and they saw that behind it there was a exit. so they went thought it and they came out a wardrobe when the came out they were younger and no longer kings and queens. i thought that this book was great and i would love to read it again.

flush

Flush

I am reading flush at the moment, but I might start blogging about something else because, I have already read most of it and I have been skipping around a lot. The idea of the book is that there is this boy named Noah, who's dad is in jail because he sunk a casino boat called the coral queen. The owner of the casino boat was named Dusty Muleman who was really pissed off and sued Noah's dad, who, by the way, is named Paine underwood. The suing is not the main story it is just a minor detail. Any way, the reason Paine sunk the coral queen, was because Dusty Muleman was dumping human waist into the ocean, when, leagaly he should be putting it in the holding tank. Unfortunately, Paine can't get any solid proof that it is Dusty Muleman, so that's why he got arrested. Oh, yeah, Noah has a younger sister named Abbey, who is a great actor.

AnnMaries Sarahs Keys Review 5

Ive finally finshed the book "Sarahs Keys". It was a very good book and i really enjoyed it. In the end of the Julia devorces her husband and moves to NYC and has a baby. She has been wondering about William Reinsford and googling him alot. He lives in NYC too. Zoe (her eldest daughter) tells Julia the William is probabley doing the same thing. One day she gets a call from William asking if they can meet up at a cafe. She does, and brings her baby. They meet and talk a little while. They talk about Sarah. Then William asks what her babys name is. Julia says her name is Sarah, after Williams mother. They sit there is silence.

And the book ends there.
I really recommend this book too someone who enjoys history as much as i do.

Sarahs Keys

Maya's Review on the Lost Hero

The lost hero is a continuation of the Persey Jackson series, but from different character's perspectives. Jason, Piper, and Leo, are about to embark on a very dangerous quest. Jason has no memory of his life before waking up on a bus, holding Piper's hand. Piper and Leo remember Jason as their best friend, but it was just a trick. Jason's memory had been stolen by Hera, and he, Leo, and Piper must go on a long, dangerous quest, to free Hera from her prison, and get Jason's memory back.

I liked this book a lot because it was very fast paced and I love the theme of Greek Mythology. The writing is fantastic, and somehow manages to answer a question, while creating two more. I would highly recommend this book, and the persey jackson series.

son of neptune jonas

the book the son of neptune is the second book in a series. the series is called the heroes of olympus. this series is about a boy named percy jackson he is the son of posiedon and he can make water move and such. this series is by rick riordan. in this book percy loses all his memorys and finds himself at a camp for people who are the children of roman gods. i think this book is really good and i would recomend it to aes 10 to 15.

The Ruby In the Smoke

Now, Sally decides to try opium, (a drug), and see if she can remeber anything about her father. While she's doing this, Mrs.Holland tries to kidnap her, but kidnaps a little girl named Adelaid instead. Frederick and Trembler try to rescue the little girl, but Frederick get's caught.
Then, Mrs.Holland's little minion, Mr.Berry, tries to punch him.
I have 2 more chapters of this BAD book, and I am really exited to finish it!!!

Isenhour The Genie's book review of The Zombie Survival Guide

The zombie survival guide is a book that tells you what a zombie is, how to kill a zombie, how zombies are created, their weaknesses, their strength’s, their desires, and why are they hostile to humanity. The Zombie Survival Guide is not about how to become a professional zombie hunter. It is not for the police or the military. It is for a regular person that wants to learn how to survive if zombies try to take over the earth. It tells you were to hide and what to save and what weapons you should have and were to get food.

I recommend this for 12 years old and up. At some parts it gets kind of disturbing and scary. Overall it is a very good book.

the ruby in the smoke

Now, Sally decides to get a gun to protect herself. She goes to her friend Trembler, (that's a name), and makes him buy her a gun. When he gives her the gun, she complains that it doesn't work right, and I think that is really selfish. She then tries it out on Frederick's, (the photographer's), barn door... but she has really bad aim, and it goes into the ground. Then Frederick comes out and flirts with her. Then, Sally pretends to be really week and pathetic, and I found that really stupid.
I have two more chapters till I finish this poopy book.
Just so you know, the book isn't getting ANY better...:(

Maya's Review on Book Nine of the Pendragon Series

In book nine, every world is in chaos. Bobby, Mark, Courtney, and many others have to work quickly to save Halla from destruction. The final battle brings everyone to second earth. Bobby must end it once and for all, right where it all started. But at what cost?

This book was the longest in the series so far, and the most fast paced. All the characters came together and things happened very fast. The author found a way to end the book with tons of suspense, sadness, and excitement, for both the readers and the characters. Book ten is the last book in the series. Can't wait!

The Janitors Boy#9&10

Chapter#9: Jack's dad, John Rankin did a lot of things when he was in high school. He caught many touchdowns in his college days. Jack's dad joined the vietnam war in high school to save the U.S.A.. Jack's mom during her young ages lived poor. Jack's dad lived happy and with money on the nice side of town. When I was reading this book I was laughing at the kid who was making fun of Jack's dad because that kid thinks that all Jack's dad did his whole life was clean things but it wasn't Jack's dad played sports.
Chapter#10:
It's about time Jack gave his vice principal the note at Jack sticking gum under the table. Jack has a best friend named, Pete Ramsey. Since Jack and Pete lockers are next to each other, Jack can tell what gum Pete was chewing.

Joe's World War Z review 3

In World War Z, it's talking about how they tried to survived the zombies when they first appeared. When people first noticed them appearing, people tried to stop them with whatever weapons they had. As the zombie population grew stronger, they called in the military. A month passed and even more zombies appeared. Most of the military got over run, which then scientists pitched in to try to come up with a cure.

Braden's post of The Great Escape Tunnel To Freedom by Mike Meserole

The Great Escape Tunnel To Freedom by Mike Meserole is about WWII. So far in the book it just describes how the concentration camps were for the British air force. The whole thing was surrounded by machine guns and if you tried to escape you would be shot but if you were to escape and make it back to London it was called "The Grand Slam."

Maya's Review on Book Eight of the Pendragon Series

In book eight, Bobby travels to Ibara, and finds trouble in the village of Rayne. The leaders of the village are keeping vital information about the outside world from the villagers. Bobby quickly solves this disturbing mystery, and has to make some tough decisions. Meanwhile, Mark, one of Bobby's two best friends, had disappeared to another territory. Courtney, Bobby's other best friend, has to go on a mission to find him. Finding mark could be a key part in beating Saint Dane.

This book was my favorite so far because every chapter revealed more information, while still managing to create more questions. I also liked that what was happening at home was as if not more important than what Bobby was doing. Not a single dull moment in this book!

The ruby in the smoke

Now, Sally decides to start working with the photographer guy, and she gets some money. Then she and Frederick (the photographer) go out and rescue a man from the clutches of the evil old woman. After they free him, he tells Sally that her father was killed by a man named Ang Li. Sally is surprised because she thought that her father's boat sank, and that's why he was killed. ( The man who they rescued was there during Sally's father's death).

During this chapter I felt really bored because the person who wrote the book was not getting me interested in her father's death. I have read many mysteries that are MUCH better than this book.
Sadly... this is the worst book that I have ever read.

Remembering Anne- AnnMarie Aves

I decided to take a break from Sarahs keys and read two short books; also about the holocaust. This one was about Anne Franks best friend Hannah Goslar. Hannah and Anne had been friends since they were five. When Anne disappeared, Hannah was devistated. This book tells the story about Hannah and her family. Hannah stays at Camps and Ghettos and still lives to tell the story today. All her family (mother, father, unborn baby, grandmother, and grandfather) died from the holocaust except for Hannah and her little sister Gabi. This was a very easy read, but also moving. I would also sugest this book to anyone who is interested in History

Night- AnnMarie Aves

This a short, but amazing book by Elie Wiesel. It is about how he survived the Holocaust. How he lost all his family in the process, and still lives to tell the story. Its sets place in Hungry at first, the travels to POland and Germany. It is a very good book and i would sugest it to any one who is interested in history

The Mother Daughter Book Club Elya

The Mother Daughter Book Club (MDBC), is a great book. It is best to read AFTER the book Little Women, by Louisa May Alcott. It talks about four very different girls who come together once a month, and have a Book Club meeting. The four mothers came up with this idea after yoga class, and thought that it would be a lot of fun.
Emma Hawthorne, the poet, Megan Wong, the designer, Jess Delaney, the farm girl, and Cassidy Ann Sloan, the sporty hockey jock see each other in totally new ways.
"Even if Megan would rather be at the mall, Cassidy is late for hockey practice, Emma's already read every book in existence, and Jess is missing her mom too much to care", the book club meets once a month at each family's house.

This book is by: Heather Vogel Friedrich.

Maya's Review on Book Seven of the Pendragon Series

In book seven, Bobby goes to Quillan, a territory that has been taken over by a company called Blok. Everything is gray and drab, and the people have lost their will to live. Along with that, there is an event called the games, where people are pitted against each other in deadly games. These people are called challengers. Bobby becomes a challenger and had to learn things fast. Meanwhile at home, things are also happening with Bobby's best friends, Mark and Courtney.

This book was really interesting because it blurred the lines between the good and evil characters and really made me think. I also couldn't put it down. There were more twists then I can count, and the author's writing is so vivid, I could almost see what was happening.

The Janitor's Boy:chapter#8

On chapter 8 there wase'nt really anything to talk about. Except for when Jack put the gum under the table and the vice princapal wrote a message about Jack, Jack's mom finally read the note. When Jack got home late he told his little sister to keep her mouth shut and if she did then she would get a dollar fifty.

Joe's World War Z review 2

In World War Z so far, the main character is talking about how the zombie virus started. The virus started with scientists trying to find a cure for alzheimers. But somehow, it went wrong. Instead of curing alzheimers, it started the function to the brains of the dead. It restarted the brain, but did not bring back any memories or feeling. So all the zombie craves is human flesh and food. As more people got bitten, it started the apocalypse.

Maya's Review on Book Six of the Pendragon Series

In book six, Bobby goes to Zadaa, and has to try to stop a war. meanwhile, his friends at home are dealing with there own problems. One of them almost gets killed. On Bobby's end, he brings back another traveler from the dead, which raises a whole bunch of questions about his abilities as a traveler.

I liked this book a lot because soooo much happened and it wasn't only what Bobby was doing, but also what was happening at home. I loved all the suspense, and as always, I would recommend it to anyone who likes a good read!

The Evolution of Calpurnia Tate. Elya

The Evolution of Calpurnia Tate, is a VERY scientific and detailed book. I love it and would recommend it to anyone who is willing to ask for a dictionary quite often.

It is about a family of seven children. Her being the only girl... WOW!
She lives with her six brothers, her mother and father, the cook, Viola, SanJuanna, and Grandaddy.
Grandaddy is her father's father, and all of the children are terrified of him (along with Viola and SanJuanna). Soon in the book, when Calpurnia is searching for a specific book that the library would not give her (unless she had five cents which was A LOT at the time, and a note from her mother conforming the permission.), Calpurnia stumbles into Grandaddy, who just happens to have that specific book...
That is how her relationship with Grandaddy starts.

This is an amazing book, and it takes place in the 1800.

Artemis Fowl 2
chap. 11-12

Remember a few blogs ago when I said that I thought that the rest of the book would take place in Russia? Well it turns out I was wrong. Really, only a few chapters have been spent in Russia; but I think that Artemis will go back eventualy. I think that, because Artemis hasn't rescued his father yet, and that's what the book is about. Right now, Artemis is deep underground, helping break in to Koboi Labs; a highly protected lare, where Opal Koboi, who is a pixie, and Briar Cudgen who betrayed the L.E.P. are trying to take over the world.
