Lyddie, Elya

This book is really good. It is not long enough for me to enjoy, but everything else was pretty perfect. It is about this girl named Lyddie, who gets separated from her family, and has a hard time working for money. Her brother, Charlie, who used to be her best friend, turns into a foreign man, whom she barely ever sees. At one point, one of her sisters (well, the other one died, so the only sister she had left) came to live with her, which makes things harder. Lyddie falls ill with the fever, and has to stop working for what seems like forever. By this point, she is making quilts, working on looms, and more complicated things. Close to the end of the book, one of Lyddie's friends is in danger, and when Lyddie protects her, she gets fired. This book is amazing, and I recommend it to everyone.

Surya's Review of the Throne of Fire (part 4)

Sadie and Carter sail through the duat and encounter some pretty strange things like an old person home but for gods(where they find and bring back Ra). They also go to paradise quite litterly, see their parents(who are somewhat dead), and gamble their souls for time. They get to Apophis's prison where Vlad the Inhaler is whiting for them the chief lector Michelle Dezadan comes to help them. He kills Vlad and himself which leaves their uncle Amos as the new chief lector. They succeed on their quest and the book ends completely happily...almost. I really like this book and recommend it to people who like action adventure.

Artemis Fowl
The eternity code
So, in the past week, I've read TONS! TONS, I tell you! Juliet showed up, and they went to Chicago to try and steal the C Cube back. Now Artemis is locked up in a comfortable cell, and Holly, Juliet, and Mulch are trying to save Artemis and still get the C Cube out of the wrong hands. Luckily, Spiro made a wrong choice in hiring Pex and Chips for the job a doberman would usually take. Their IQ is lower than a dobermans' IQ.
Meanwhile, Jon Spiro and Arno Blunt plan on making Artemis unlock the cube.

the nobody

"The Nobody" was a book about an invisible man that comes into a small town to live while he works on the cure to reverse his invisibility. While he's out he has to where bandages to be seen, and that makes a lot of people very suspicious. In the end of the book he is found at the lake with the Diner owners daughter. That didn't end well because the girls father ended up finding them, he pushed the invisible man into the lake and he died. I definitely wouldn't read this book again because I didn't really enjoy it and I think it was kind of dumb. I also wouldn't tell someone else to read the book.

Think Twice

I finally finished "think twice" last week, the book was very good, even though it did not have the ending that i wanted it to. When I got to the whole book I was convinced that Alice would be caught and killed, Bennie would be the one to catch Alice, Bennie would survive and make it out of the box, and Bennie and Grady Would get back together. I was right about everything except for Alice being killed, because she was caught but unfortunately escaped when Bennie was distracted while she was about to shoot and kill her. My favorite part about the book was how there were three different settings for every chapter but all of them were connected in some way. My least favorite part was how in the beginning of the book the chapters with Bennie in them were very short. I wouldn't re-read the book though, because I understood everytthing and it really wasn't confusing at all.

So Long and Thanks For All The Fish

This book is by Douglas Adams. Arthur is back on the Earth but it hasn't been destroyed. He is back in his house and apparently 5 years have passed. he meets this girl who has gone mad and thinks the earth is destroyed. A couple months later he sees the same girl hitchhiking and picks her up. He ends up Finding Ford Prefect And Ford, Arthur, and the girl Fenchurch, hitch a ride on a spaceship and go to this planet where There is a message that says I am sorry for the inconvenience and the book ends here with Arthur and Fenchurch carrying Martin who is nearly dead.

The Circuit

The circuit is a book about a immigrant boy from Mexico and his family. It's a really good book. I really liked it, and it's really sad. The boy's family goes from camp to camp, looking for a place to work.

I finished the book, too!

The day joanie became a boy

This book is about a tom girl named Joan who just wants to be treated the same way boys are but her mother wants her to be this perfect girl. Soon Joanie moves to a new school at her new school the teacher accidentally calls her john instead of Joan but instead of telling her teacher the truth she decides to act like a boy and see what its like. She even meets some boys who let her join there club. In the club she does lots of scary and mean things but at the end she tells the whole class that she's a girl and she even gets a new friend

The Beacon Street girls- part 3

Now, Charlotte gets in over her head with her lie about being able to go around her new mansion freely. Her landlord is completely against the idea of Charlotte roaming around the mansion's rooms... but Charlotte's friends, Avery, Katani, and Maude, think that Charlotte is allowed in every part of her house. So, it's not a surprise that after Avery chases the mouse out from Maude's hair, she discovers a secret tunnel up to a secret chamber room with four windows. As soon as the other three girls discover the chamber room they make plans to design the furniture and the windows.
Charlotte knows that she is definity not allowed up into the chamber, but let herself have some fun.... This book is getting more and more dramatic at the minute, and I love it!

The Beacon Street girls

Now, Katani decides that she doesn't want to be in the same group as Charlotte so she tells their teacher that she wants all of their group to have a sleepover and maybe if they get together then they don't have to sit with each other. So, Charlotte has a sleepover with everyone.
The sleepover starts out rough, with everyone getting mad at each other and yelling.... but after explaining themselves to each other they become friends.
During early bedtime a mouse runs onto Maude's hair. Maude screams and wakes up everyone who was sleeping. Avery, who loves all excitement, decides to chase the mouse around the house which is annoying because Charlotte's landlord doesn't like Charlotte to go around the house. She can only go onto some floors.
This book is getting seriously good, and I can't wait to read more! It's also getting a little dramatic.

The Day Joanie Became A Boy, Elya

This book is about a family who is moving to a new town already three weeks into the school year, and no one wants to go. But then, the already tomboyish girl Joanie, turns into boy John, when the teacher reads her name wrong on the attendance sheet. There was a typo in the list! Joanie takes the risk, and becomes John, hanging out with the boys her age, and avoiding her moms makeover tips. Joanie writes a story, about a kid and a gang with powers, and the boys read it. The main leader, Zane Hamilton, decides to make a real SuperDude club, but to get in it, you have to pass three tests. The first, hand on a thin rickety tree branch over a gushing river, Joanie passes, the second, throw firecrackers into an old man's yard, she doesn't have the time to do, since they need to run away from the man, since they let his cat Murphy on fire, the third, though, goes over the line, the test was to follow a girl Lucinda home, and snap her bra strap. Zane goes over the top, and says, "While we are at it, let's see what color it is", and Joanie/ John tackles him. She reveals her true identity when Zane calls her a girl, and ....
Sorry, I've given too much away, there is much more, but I don't want to ruin the book. Things happen to the family's dog, and there are friendships that are surprising, and the whole thing is a bundle of excitement..... I know some of this sounds really cheesy, but it is a great book...
I recommend this to anyone, boy or girl, since there are both perspectives in the book...

When you reach me, Elya

This book is really good, and it has a lot of A Wrinkle In Time in it. The main character, is obsessed with the book, and she carries it around everywhere. It also has to do with Tessering. Things get really complicated, and I would only recommend it to people who have read the whole Madeline L'engel book first.
The main character, Miranda, has a best friend Sal, who one day, just starts ignoring her, and she doesn't know why. She thinks it has something to do with the fact that he got punched by a kid.
Miranda gets to know the kid who punched Sal, and they talk about Tessering. Marcus, the kid, is obsessed with the idea, and he tries to explain his theories to Miranda...
This whole book is based on a few notes, and a letter. To whom the letter is to, and from whom the notes are from, are for you to discover.
I really liked this book, and I know that I have left out some crucial parts, and some non-crucial parts, but I am hoping that you get to reading it, so I won't need to explain anything else.

The Beacon Street girls

This book is really good, and very detailed. It's about a girl named Charlotte who moves into a new town a new house, and a new school. At first she is very happy with the way things turn out because her house is a pretty huge mansion and her school seems awesome. But then her new teacher makes everyone sit with their own little group in order to get to know each other better. Charlotte has to sit with three other girls: Katani, Avery, and Maude. Katani likes everything to be perfect and is kind of mean to everyone if she doesn't like them. Avery is absessed with sports, and she gets on my nerves... even though she is very nice. Finally, Maude reminds me a little of myself. She loves acting and watching movies, but sometimes can be a little mean to Charlotte.
All in all, Charlotte doesn't like her little group at first because she feels like they exclude her because she is new.
Then, Charlotte accidently makes one of the tables that her group is sitting at come crashing down, by zippering the table cloth to her jeans. Charlotte gets completely put out by the school and wants to move away immedietly, but she can't.
I really like this book so far, and think it is a very accurate description of girls my age. I would definetly reccomend this book to anyone who likes anything!!

This book is about two girls named Emily and Sybil who are two best friends and know exactly what each other is thinking at the exact moment they think it. Emily goes to a fondue party with Emily, and meets a lot of people. She sleeps over at Emily's house and wakes up to go for a drive with her friend, Michael who she met at the fondue party.
This book seems kind old fashioned and simple at the same time. I have barely started it, so I don't know much about it, but it seems okay... the book is by Judy Blume who has written tons of other books about girl and boys.

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire

Now in the book Voldemort has risen again and all of his helper came back to help him. Then Voldemort talks for a long time then he pokes Harry in the head. When he pokes Harry he starts to scream then they have this weird fight. Artemis Fowl book 3 blog by clara

Artemis Fowl
The eternity code
So, Holly Short, who is a fairy, was able to revive Butler with magic, but Butler went from looking like a 40 year old, to looking like a 55 year old. He was unconscious and too weak to continue to be Artemis's body guard, so Artemis called Butler's little sister, Juliet. Now Juliet is on her way coming from Japan, where she was doing her training to become a body guard, to Ireland, where Artemis and Butler are.

Meanwhile, Jon Spiro, the guy who stole Artemis's invention, the C Cube, wants Artemis kidnapped so he can unlock the the code for the C Cube, and he is hiring this guy named loafer something, and Mulch Diggums, (Who is a gnome that was with the LEP but is no longer) to do the kidnapping. Spiro does not know that Mulch Diggums is a gnome. He thinks that Mulch's name is Mo something or another and that Mulch is Just a really short guy. Mulch agreed to do the job just so he could keep the plan from working. This is because Artemis is the closest thing to a friend that Mulch has, although, Artemis isn't too close with Mulch.

Jamie's blog of the fourth Harry Potter book blog 1

Harry goes to the quiditch world cup with the Weasleys and Hermione. The quiditch world cup is where all the best qiditch players play. It was Ireland vs Bulgaria. Bulgaria had an advantage, they had Victor Krum the Seeker. Sitting in the same row as harry Hermione and the Weasleys was a House elf named Winky. They talked to Winky for a while and then went back to watching the game.

(They had to sleep in tents but the tents were magic they were really big.) After the game they went back to there tents and talked about the game when outside they heard screams and people walking with heavy footsteps walking toward them. Everyone went outside terrified and listened to what Mr. Weasly was saying, he was telling the kids to go into the forest and hide from the death eaters. But they got found and the death eaters did find them they cornered the kids and blasted them with jets of color from there wands. Then they saw a weird mark in the sky it looked like a skull with snake coming out its mouth. Everyone was trying to figure out who conjured it.

Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief, Elya

I am reading this in Hebrew, and it might be a little different from the English version.
Since I am pretty slow in Hebrew, I haven't gotten very far.
Percy just finished school, and he was asked not to return next year. That is what happened every year for the six years he has been in school for. He is twelve, and hates his step-dad.
During the last few days of school, things have been getting really weird. For example, the class went to a museum, and one of his teachers tries to attack him, turning into a weird massive flying bird creature. luckily, his other teacher, Mr. Bruner, and his best friend Grover, come in time, and Percy blasts the bird into dust with a pen that transformed into a sword. When Percy goes back outside, everyone claims that there was never a teacher named Ms. Dods, even Mr. Bruner and Grover, who had seen Percy with the bird/teacher.
School ends, and Percy and his mom go on a trip to a summer house for vacation. Unfortunately, things don't go so well. Grover shows up, Percy tells his mom everything that happened, and they get chased by a half man half bull. The minotaur kills Percy's mom and Percy needs to save the unconscious Grover. Percy manages to kill the minotaur by ripping off one of his horns, and stabbing him in the gut. More interesting things happen, like the fact that Mr. Bruner is not actually in a wheelchair, hi just hides his real legs in a box below the chair. He is a centaur...
I have already read this book, but it is still really interesting, and different because I am reading it in Hebrew now, not English.

Sleeping Freshman Never Lie, Elya

Don't be thrown off by the title, this book is amazing. It is about a guy named Scott, and his freshman year in high school. Scott needs to get used to high school. Meanwhile, he maneges to get himself into everything, (unfortunately) including the school paper. He is in charge of the sports column, and writes about football, wrestling, track, and baseball. One of the football players, Vernon, has a thing with Scott. Any chance he gets, he will corner him, and beat him up. All during middle school, and some before, Scott, Mitch, Kyle and Patrick have been friends. Then, Mitch gets a girlfriend, and ignores the rest, Patrick moves to Texas, and then to japan, and Kyle turns into a jock. Since kindergarten, Scott has known this girl Julia. But this year, things are different; Scott can't take his eyes off her. He convinces himself that he can be with her if he joins the play, (because he overheard her talking about it) and then while he gets into stage crew, Julia doesn't make the cast. Unfortunately, he can't quit, so he is stuck in stage crew for the rest of the year. Also, there is this odd new girl, Lee, who has piercings all over her face, but instead of earrings, she puts safety pins in. Scott and Lee build a friendship, and it pays off at the end. On top of everything, Scott's mom announces that she is pregnant. Scott writes tips about high school for his little sibling, Sean or Emily, (which Scott maneges to mash up, and creates Smelly.) because Scott realises that high school would be much easier if he had a guide.

I love this book, and although it is complicated, I would recommend this to anyone who likes to read. 10+.

The Bat in Bunk Five

The end of this book was really good, and it shows how summer camp can change Marcy from being an insecure, irresponsible child, to being a secure, more grown-up child.
In the middle of meeting all of Marcy's new friends, she meets a boy named Ted, who has a crush on Marcy, and they soon become boyfriend and girlfriend. A change occurs at the camp, when a little girl named Ginger comes and starts being bratty to everyone, and the little girl starts fights everywhere she goes. Marcy tries to reach out to Ginger, but doesn't succeed.
At the end of the book, Marcy goes home as a changed girl... I really enjoyed reading this book, but I thought the name had almost nothing to do with the book.

Artemis Fowl 3

Artemis Fowl
The Eternity Code
When I left off before, Butler had been almost-fatally wounded. He would have died after about four min. if Artemis hadn't conserved Butler's body in the freezer, which usually lasts about an hour. Then Artemis went and convinced a sergion to try and save butler, but by the time they get Butler, more than an hour has gone by and the sergion isn't sure if she can save Butler. (Well, actually, she is just going to try to make Butler ready to get the treatment he needs to get fully healed.)
Meanwhile, the LEP, (the fairies) have just recived a voice message loaded with keywords. (The LEP recives many messages each day, so they have a computer that sorts out all the messages with these keywords and only displays those. The keywords are things like LEP or fairies.) Any way, the message is nothing but a bunch of keywords, and the LEP is trying to figure out who it's from and what it means. I think it is from Artemis, because he knows the keywords and I think he wants fairy help to heal Butler.

All of a kind family Emma

All of a kind family is about a family of 6 girls and one boy and the mother and the father. It's mostly about the girls and the things they do. The book is set on the olden days and the little girls are very curries and they have all these different connections with people. I liked the book and I would recommend it to any body who can read chapter books because there arn't really fancy word in the book.

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire

Now in the book harry just finished the third task with his friend Cedric. While they were in the graveyard this weird little man came and killed Cedric. This book is really good and i cant wait to read more.

There is a bat in Bunk Five

This book is about a girl who is going away to summer camp for the whole summer, because her friend, Mrs. Finney knew her and thought she should go to camp with her. The problem is that Marcy, the girl, has really weird parents who don't understand her... Marcy's father always yells at her and he just had a heart attack from smoking, which scared Marcy tons... Marcy's mother treats Marcy like she doesn't exist, or, when she does talk to her, she acts like Marcy is a three year old. Marcy's brother, Stuart, is really nice to Marcy, and actually treats her like a human being which is a nice change for Marcy...
I feel like this author, Paula Danziger, likes to write books about sad children who can't take care of themselves. Which I think is pretty cool.

Joe's Review on The Dark Side

After reading several stories inside the book, it just gets worse - and boring. Every story gets more and more predictable. The last story I read was about a women and her boyfriend getting stuck in their car, in the middle of nowhere after running out of gas, at about 1 am in the morning. The boyfriend gets out of the car and says comfortably, "Don't worry, I will be back soon. I'm just going to get some help, lock the doors though." As her boyfriend walks away to get help, she locks the doors. 20 minutes past and her boyfriend is still nowhere to be seen. She tries to fall asleep, but she sees a shadow move across her hand.
She looks up at the window not to see her boyfriend, but a crazed man dangling something by his right hand. He slowly lifts up his right hand, and it was ehr boyfriends decapitated head. She begins to scream, and she sees him left up his left hand. He was holding her boyfriend's keys - to the car.

The Throne of Fire by Rick Riordon is about a brother and sister named Carter and Sadie Kane. They are on a quest to free Ra, the Egyptian sun god. The way they are able to do this is by retrieving and putting together the book of Ra which is in three pieces. The first one they found in the Brooklyn museum it set the part of the city on fire but the fire was harmless and it went out in about thirty min. but at least they got it. Now they are in Russia where they have the second scroll now they only need to defeat a two headed monster and they will be off to their next destination.

The Janitors Boy # 19 TiNo

When Jack was walking through the tunnel the heard a weird sound and he was getting scared but he saw that it was the heat radiated from the large iron pipe and the sound was like a hissing type noise. When Jack was walking he saw a kid sitting in the chair with the light on and a book on his lap. Jack was nervous because how the kid looked. he asked the kid many questions like where are you from and why are you here.

From the Mixed up files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler Elya

This book is about two kids who run away from home, and hide in the New York Museum of Art. They find ways to spend as little money as they can, although they had a lot of money, 27$ (that was a LOT of money at that time, especially for a kid). They spend quite a lot of time at the museum, and they get obsessed with a specific work of art. They do a lot of research on it, and they found out that it was donated to the museum by Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler. They go to visit her, and they get to know her. She talks to them about the angel, and has her butler drive them back to their home. The boy kept pressing buttons in the back, so even through the partition wall is closed, the driver could hear what they were saying. He wrote a letter to Mrs. Basil, and she heard that the kids were talking about her. This whole book is written as a letter from Mrs. Basil, to her lawyer, who is, (although the children don't know it) their grandfather. In the letter that the butler gives Mrs. Basil, he says that one of the kids say that they would like her as a grandmother. That would mean that they were partners.
I have very little more to say about this book, even though it was really good.
I recommend this book to people who like a pretty short slightly funny adventure.

Scat/Artemis Fowl 3

I finished Scat. I would recomend it to everyone over 4th grade. Now I'm reading Artemis Fowl the Eternity Code. I am enjoying it a lot. So far, the main charictor, Artemis, and his body guard/ side kick Butler have met up with these guys in a restraunt who Artemis plans to sell his new invention to. The invention is a little cube that does everything an i phone does and more. It is based off of technology belonging to the fairies. But when Artemis is doing a demonstration of it he almost reveals the LEP (the fairies). So he says he has to fix some things but then it turns out that everyone in the restraunt is an enemy and they pull out their guns and there's a lot of crazy stuff happening and in the commotion the guys who were going yo buy Artemis's cube steal the cube and butler gets fatally wounded but Artemis manages to get Butler in to a big pile of ice to conserve him before the doctor gets there. Everyone died or was knocked out by the fight accept Artemis, and the bad guys.

The Chronicles of Number Ten Ox and Master Li by Barry Hugart

I got this book for Christmas and just recently started it. It's about this boy (Number Ten Ox) who is in a peasant village in Ch'in dynasty period China. Children in his village have fallen sick with the plague, and he goes to get a wise man from the nearby city. He ends up with Master Li Tao, and they go on a crazy adventure to cure the children of Ox's village. It's supposed to be based on a traditional Chinese folktale, but it spins off quite a bit from the real story. There are a few other books with different stories, but still Number Ten Ox and Master Li.

I really liked this book and I really wish there was more than three. I couldn't put it down and read it really really fast. I liked how silly and ridiculous they were. There's a bit of adult language and like, so I would recommend it only if you can handle it.

Jamie's final review of Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban

Harry Ron and Hermione all go into a shack called the"Shrieking Shack," inside the shack stands a filthy man who sort of looked like a skeleton his name was Serious Black he had escaped from the Wizard jail Azkaban and he wanted to kill Harry Potter. Just then Professor Lupin teacher of defence against the dark arts walks in and it turns out that both Lupin and Black are old friends.

Harry thought that black had killed his parents but it turned out that a man named Peter Petegrew had helped he who must not be named with the murder and Petegrews identity was Ron's pet rat. later that evening Petegrew gets fed to the dementors who are dark figures that suck out your soul.

When the kids get back to the castle they get talked by dumbledore he says that " if you hurry more than one Innocent life three turns should do the trick," as anyone would be Harry was completly confused then he saw Hermione take out a little watch type thing that can travel through time Harry and Hermione went back three hours when Buckbeak was executed, they saved Buckbeak and also saved Serious Black who was about to get his soul sucked out.

Black it turns out is Harry's god father and wants to take to his house to live with him Harry doesn't refuse but then can't because the Dementors start looking for black so Harry has to go back with the Dursly's.

The Anybodies

The Anybodies is a really great book about a girl named Fern. Fern lives in a really boring home, with really boring parents. Their names are Mr. and Mrs. Drudger. Fern has always thought that she doesn't belong with her family, because first of all she doesn't look at all like her parents... she has curly hair and huge eyes... while her parents have straight hair and thin narrow eyes. Fern's thoughts turn out to be true when a man comes to call on their home. He tells the Drudgers that Fern actually belongs to him, and that their mid wife who was there when Fern was being born, had accidently switched her and another baby. So the man gave the Drudgers a boy, and took Fern with him. When they got to his house, he told her that he was an Anybody, and that meant that he could change into anything he wanted to... but he couldn't do it so well anymore because he was older. Fern learns that she is an Anybody too.
Then they go to Fern's grandmother's house to try and find her mother's diary which supposedly could help them fight an evil man named the Miser. When they get there they pretend to be Mr Bibb and his daughter Ida... who are fake people. They find out that Fern can shake people/objects out of books, which is a very good thing. The Miser than kidnappes Fern's father, and Fern goes to rescue him. She ends up saving him with her grandmother who it turns out, actually knew all along who Fern really was.
I really loved this book, and I would reccomend it to anyone who likes fantasy.

Maya's Review on the Ask and the Answer

This is the continuation of the Knife of Never Letting go. In the book, Tod had been caught by the Mayor after running away from his army, and uncovering many secrets about the new world. He found out that there are women, and the Prentisstown was only one of many settlements in the new world, and the only one without women. The Mayor had succeeded in taking over everything, and begins to make changes for the worse, to all of the new world. This causes a war to begin to brew, and Tod is caught in the middle...

I love this series and I love the suspense, and it seems like whenever your expecting something to happen, some twist makes it go a totally different way. I do still think that it's not for everyone, because it's very gory and violent.

Maya's Review on the Card Turner

The Card Turner is about a boy who's great uncle is near death, and in an attempt to get him to leave them money, the boys parents make him go with his great uncle to his bridge club and be his card turner, because his uncle was blind, and needs someone to tell him his cards. The boy develops a love for the game of bridge, and is fascinated by the complicated rules. When his uncle dies, right before the national bridge tournament, the boy must make a decision: is he ready to play in his uncles place?

I thought this book was okay, but I think it spent to much time explaining bridge, and not enough time on the actual plot. I liked the way the game of bridge came off though, because the book really appreciated how hard of a game it is, and it's an interesting concept to write a book about a card game, instead of a major sport, like baseball.
