Maya's Review on Book Seven of the Pendragon Series

In book seven, Bobby goes to Quillan, a territory that has been taken over by a company called Blok. Everything is gray and drab, and the people have lost their will to live. Along with that, there is an event called the games, where people are pitted against each other in deadly games. These people are called challengers. Bobby becomes a challenger and had to learn things fast. Meanwhile at home, things are also happening with Bobby's best friends, Mark and Courtney.

This book was really interesting because it blurred the lines between the good and evil characters and really made me think. I also couldn't put it down. There were more twists then I can count, and the author's writing is so vivid, I could almost see what was happening.

The Janitor's Boy:chapter#8

On chapter 8 there wase'nt really anything to talk about. Except for when Jack put the gum under the table and the vice princapal wrote a message about Jack, Jack's mom finally read the note. When Jack got home late he told his little sister to keep her mouth shut and if she did then she would get a dollar fifty.

Joe's World War Z review 2

In World War Z so far, the main character is talking about how the zombie virus started. The virus started with scientists trying to find a cure for alzheimers. But somehow, it went wrong. Instead of curing alzheimers, it started the function to the brains of the dead. It restarted the brain, but did not bring back any memories or feeling. So all the zombie craves is human flesh and food. As more people got bitten, it started the apocalypse.

Maya's Review on Book Six of the Pendragon Series

In book six, Bobby goes to Zadaa, and has to try to stop a war. meanwhile, his friends at home are dealing with there own problems. One of them almost gets killed. On Bobby's end, he brings back another traveler from the dead, which raises a whole bunch of questions about his abilities as a traveler.

I liked this book a lot because soooo much happened and it wasn't only what Bobby was doing, but also what was happening at home. I loved all the suspense, and as always, I would recommend it to anyone who likes a good read!

The Evolution of Calpurnia Tate. Elya

The Evolution of Calpurnia Tate, is a VERY scientific and detailed book. I love it and would recommend it to anyone who is willing to ask for a dictionary quite often.

It is about a family of seven children. Her being the only girl... WOW!
She lives with her six brothers, her mother and father, the cook, Viola, SanJuanna, and Grandaddy.
Grandaddy is her father's father, and all of the children are terrified of him (along with Viola and SanJuanna). Soon in the book, when Calpurnia is searching for a specific book that the library would not give her (unless she had five cents which was A LOT at the time, and a note from her mother conforming the permission.), Calpurnia stumbles into Grandaddy, who just happens to have that specific book...
That is how her relationship with Grandaddy starts.

This is an amazing book, and it takes place in the 1800.

Artemis Fowl 2
chap. 11-12

Remember a few blogs ago when I said that I thought that the rest of the book would take place in Russia? Well it turns out I was wrong. Really, only a few chapters have been spent in Russia; but I think that Artemis will go back eventualy. I think that, because Artemis hasn't rescued his father yet, and that's what the book is about. Right now, Artemis is deep underground, helping break in to Koboi Labs; a highly protected lare, where Opal Koboi, who is a pixie, and Briar Cudgen who betrayed the L.E.P. are trying to take over the world.

Jamie's review of Harry Potter 4

Harry got a new broom, the best out their actually. It's being checked for jinxes.

Classes start again and the only class he likes is defense against the dark arts because the teacher( Lupin ) is going to teach Harry how to block away dementors.

The Ruby in the smoke

So far, this book is annoying the fudge out of me! I really don't like how the author wrote it... he never tries to get you interested. I am not very exited for the rest of this book to happen.
So far, Sally met with Jimmy, and he told her that the evil old lady is trying to torture a man into telling her about the seven blessings letter that Sally got. Then, Sally leaves home, where she was living with her nasty aunt, and goes to stay with the photographer. The photographer's name is Frederick and he introduces Sally to his sister who is an actress.
I think Sally is starting to fall in love with him, but I'm not sure. As I said before... this book is too old and confusing.

Graphic Novel review: Castle Waiting by Linda Medley

Castle Waiting starts out as a classic fairy tale with a twist. It's your standard Sleeping Beauty-spin off with the queen who wants a baby and a evil witch. The story isn't really that interesting until about Chapter 5: Jain, a highly pregnant noblewoman is looking for the legendary castle in which the aforementioned royal family lived. Once she arrives, you see the full spectrum of characters: Doctor Fell, a psychotic doctor who refuses to take off his plague mask (even though the plague has passed), Beckham, the half-vuluture caretaker, Sir Chess, a human-horse knight and Sister Peace, a member of St Wilfortes (a group of followers, all bearded women).

Among many other books I have been reading the past week, Castle Waiting sticks out to me. Mostly because of the fact that it's a Graphic Novel, but also because of how much I enjoyed it. The characters are portrayed really well, and I perceived the entire story as playful in a way, like a simple, silly play put together by best friends. I would highly recommend this story to anyone.

Maya's Review on Pretty Little Liars Twisted

Twisted taked place a year after the last book in the series ended. The girls have even more secrets, including one they all share, something that happened on a trip to Jamaica. Along with that big secret, each girl has her own side story, all of which could end in disaster.

I loved this book and couldn't put it down. The suspense was incredible and I felt like I knew the characters. One of my favorites in the series!

10/20/2011
Shiggy
A Game of Thrones
currently in the book the eldest son of Eddard Stark is preparing to march on the lord Tywin. Meanwhile, Eddard is the prisoner of the Lanisters as well as one of his daughters. I really like how the speed has picked up becuase the king died and his wife siezed power. I am still really enjoying reading this book and it hasn't yet gotten boring.

Shayma's Review Of "The Princess Plot"

All I know is that there are two girls and it starts to get close to night time so one of the girls moms says its getting dark come in and eat dinner. one of the girls says I better start getting ready to go home. The girls both remind me a lot of myself because they go threw a lot of the same things I go threw.

Braden's Review of Artemis Foul by Eion Colfer

Last time I posted it ended that Holly stayed above ground to preform the ritual. Holly went to find a old oak tree so she can get an oak seed and plant it. Doing this will give Holly her powers back but what she did not know is that Artemis was waiting for her. Artemis shot Holly with a tranquilizer dart and kid napped her.

Maya's Review on Book Five of the Pendragon Series

In book five, Bobby goes to a territory called Eelong, where cat-like animals live in trees and have intelligence. Below, on the jungle floor, evil huge lizard monsters lurk, waiting for prey. The cats keep humans as pets, and force them to go on dangerous harvesting missions on the jungle floor.

I liked this book a lot because it was interesting to think about humans being kept as pets by cats, and also a lot of things happened in the story that added more excitement and suspense. As with all the books I've read so far in this series, I would highly recommend it.

The Janitors Boy

Jack lived and went to school in a town called huntington. His school was old so they changed it up and rebuilt a new school. sense Jack put the gum under the table he had to take away the smell and stickiness. Jack had got most of the gum off his hands and shoes and pants.

Jordana's 3rd review of the " The Bar Code Tatto"

The mystery is reveled! and what a bummer

After much deliberation I have come to my decision that the book " The Bar Code Tatto", is an awful book. The beginning was fairly strong, with the concept of marking people's identities by tattooing all of their information onto their arm, in the form of a barcode. This seemingly leading the way into complex and political struggle between the right of the free people over the government. Over the last few chapters though I have stopped hoping for better things to come, and excepted that the author " Suzanne Weyn" is lacking a serious sense of logic.

Update on the Help

Minnie Jackson was recently fierd in the book by her boss Ms.Hilly Holbrook. So she went out looking for jobs. But it turns out that their was a rumor out that she steals and has horrible cooking. So their was only one person that didn't hear any of the rumors that Hilly spreeded. This one person is Cecila Foote she had never had a maid before so she treats Minnie like her best friend. So i getting ready to  get deeper into the book. Is there any suggestions for what i should read next?

Joe's World War Z review

I am reading a new book called World War Z. World War Z is about a scientist recording the details of a zombie apocalypse, the world being infected by a zombie virus. No names of the characters have been mentioned, but it seems like a really interesting book. So far, the scientist is talking about how people were affected by the war, and how it was before it happened. They are talking about how all of the world couldn't believe that zombies were real and how the scientist don't say the word zombie, they just call them walking dead or walkers. Seems like a good book so far.

Artemis Fowl 2
chap. 8-10

Since I last blogged, in the arctic, Artemis has done a secret fairy ritual to reattach a fairy's finger, and in the fairy world; which is underground, there has been a war; LEP, (fairies) vs the B wa' kell.(goblins) I wold explain why there was a war, but I don't want to give too much away for anyone who is reading the book and hasn't gotten there yet or for people who are planning to read the book.
Also, if you are planning to read the book, you might want to read the first book before you read this one. Otherwise you might get confused. It is a very complicated book. I like the series because Artemis knows that he is a criminal mastermind.

Zoe's 3rd review of "the ruby in the smoke"

After Sally leaves the train she finds that she has lost the diary. She thinks it was stolen by the man who sat next to her. She tries to find him but it's impossible for her. This story is really old it seems like, so they use some terms that I don't really understand. They said something about her being too young to sit in the train with a man next to her... I thought that was ridiculous.
When Sally gets home to her aunt, who apparently is kind of mean to her, she gets a letter from her friend Jimmy, telling her to meet him somewhere. I am up to the part in the book where she goes and meets him. I wouldn't trust him, and I think that's stupid of her.

Twilight series, book two; New Moon By Elyushka

In New Moon, Edward and Bella continue their relationship, and one day, after a bloody accident at the Cullens, Edward's face changes. When he smiles, instead of his face bing bright and full of beauty, it looks hard. Bella gives him some time, thinking that time will help. She was wrong. After some time, Edward says that his family has dicided to leave. Bella lets the words sink in, and understands that by that he means 'not her'.
When Edward leaves, Bella feels like she has a ripped hole in her chest, and when she thinks of them, or any of the Cullens, (especially Alice and Edward) the hole starts burning itself more thoughraly, and making itself more permanent on her chest.
Since Edward left, she has been spending most of her time with her friend, Jacob Black (who I forgot to mention last book).
After a night at the movies with Jacob and her frind Mike from school, Bella sences a change in Jacob. Instead of spending 99.9 % of their time together, he was avvoiding her, for no reason that she could see.
Bella makes a discovery, and finds that Jacob is a werewolve. That was the change in him...

I continue to reccomend this book/series, and hope hwoever reads this book, enjoys it!

Sorry about the briefness, there was A LOT more to tell, but I didn't want to give anything away; read the book to find out more!

Twilight Series, Book one; Twilight By:Elyushka

Book one of the Twilight series;Twilight; is an amazing book that makes me want to read more.
I is about a girl named Bella Swan, who moves from sunny Pheonix, to sullen and rainy Forks, Washington. At first, she thinks her life will be miserable, but then she meets the mysterious family, the Cullens. There are five kids; Alice, Jasper, Rosalie, Emmet and Edward. There are rumors upon rumors on this family, so no one knows whom to believe.
The first day, she recognizes Edward's black glare. She is surprised at how fast he seemed to hate her. After a few weeks of sitting next to each other in Biology, and not talking, Edward speaks up. Instead of the black glare Bella had been seeing for the pas t few weeks, his eyes were a liquid topaz.
She gets pulled into a unfamiliar world, and enjoys every minute of her new and unexpected life.

I love this series, and have read it multiple times. I would recommend this book (series) to anyone who is willing to drown in a book with A LOT of details...

Maya's Review on Book Four of the Pendragon Series

In book four, Bobby goes to a territory called Veelox, and everyone is stuck in their own fantasies using a contraption called Lifelight, leaving the territory to fall apart. I can't really say more then that without giving it away.

This book was my favorite so far because it had different dimensions to it, sort of like inception. I also like that it was really fast paced and there was always action. This series has yet to disappoint.

Shiggy
A Game of Thrones
In the book "A Game of Thrones" the author tells the story of several characters and alternates which one is focused on between chapters. This method of writing is useful for suspenseful story telling which keeps you wondering what will hapen to the person. I really enjoy hearing the exciting stories of all the characters and I can't wait to read the next book.

The Janitors Boy

Jack's principal wanted him to carry the desk in the music room that smelled like watermelon bubblegum, into the office. Jack carried the desk in the office and the principal wrote a note to Jack's parents saying that he has one hour detention after school for three weeks. Then Jack had to carry the desk in the janitors room and leave it there. Jack went back to class worrying if his dad was gonna yell at him or if his mom was gonna punish him. But worrying more about everyone finding out his dad was the school janitor.

Joe's review of Tales From The Farm 2

I finished the book "Tales from the Farm" and it concluded with Lester running away from his uncle Ken, and finding his own way by himself. I didn't like the book so much because there wasn't enough laughter, mostly sadness. Sadness about Lester's mom dying, the conflicts between Uncle Ken and Lester, and the bullying he goes through at school. If Tales from the Farm was more positive, then i think it would be a much better book. But I didn't hate it, I liked how the book wasn't corney and it continued to stay real. But I hope my next book will have more positiveness.

Review of the characters from The Help

Aibileen Clark is one of the main characters. She is a maid in Jackson, Mississippi who takes care of a two year old name Mae Mobely. She has been a maid sense she was maybe about fourteen. Miss.Leefolt is also Mae Mobely and she is pregnant. Theres also Skeeter who is one of the nices people in the movie and the book. She treats the maids very well . She doesnt like how the african americans are treated and is trying to make a difference.

Now there going to find Aslan ( a lion who is the king of Narnia) because that might be the safest place for then.

Jordana's 2nd review of the " The Bar Code Tatto"

The plot thickens

In the book "The Bar code Tattoo" the mystery of the tattoo grows and grows. When we last left Kayla her father had committed suicide because of the tattoo on his arm, for reasons unknown to her. Her mother had fallen into a state of depression which concluded in her loosing her job.

We learn more about the bar code tattoo from Kayla's next-door neighbor, an ex-tattoo artist who got out of trouble with the government by taking up the job of applying the barcode tattoos. Kayla learns from him that idea of identifying people with tattoos on their arms started up in Europe, then moved to Asia, and soon after took root in America. He can't explain it to Kayla but he tells her that getting a barcode tattoo will ruin your life, and that he'd seen it happen before.

After this Kayla meets a group of kids who are against the barcode tattoos as well. One of the boys in the group, Ezekiel came to America because the barcode tattoo ruined his parents lives. As soon as his mother and father had gotten the tattoos his father who was never high-ranking in his work suddenly kept getting promoted and promoted. While his mother was fired and couldn't get a job since, this made them fight and finally break up.

Kayla's friend Amber is going to do similar things with her family. One day Amber's father's tattoo wouldn't work. He couldn't access his accounts, was fired from his job, and was left helpless. Soon after her mother's had to went dead as well, and no one could help them. It go so bad that they had to move, leaving Kayla alone with her drunk mother.

The story is really getting kind of creepy when the tattoos on the characters arms failed them. I love stories with conspiracies and anything anti- ''the man''. The author writes in such a way that you really do want more, and the mystery of the tattoo is really quite intriguing. The character of Kayla though is a tad unrealistic, she's so strong in the face of everything depressing and sad in her life. This makes her a little unlikable that she can so easily shake off her father's death and her mother's ineptitude. All in all though, I'm enjoying this book so far, my mother says it has an awful ending but we'll see.

Braden Artemis fowl 2

In Artemis Fowl, by Eoin Colfer, the author makes Artemis very cautious and very smart. For example to get this fairy book he had to get it from a sprite that was addicted to alcohol. Artemis went up to the sprite and traded alcohol for 40 seconds with the book. Artemis quickly grabbed the book and took a picture of every page and then gave the book back. When he gave the book back his butler drugged the sprite so she would not remember this. In addition to being very careful Artemis is also very smart. For example, Artemis uploaded the pictures to learn fairy secrets; in the pictures it had weird writing in it. So, he used translator on his computer to decode the words. After two or three tries he tried egyptian hieroglyphics and it worked. He decoded the symbols. So far I like the book and I hope I will keep on liking it.

Maya's Review on the First Three Books of the Pendragon Series

So far, the pendragon series is about a boy named Bobby Pendragon who finds out he can travel to different "territories", meaning other planets, through space and time. Bobby sets out to save all the territories (including his own) from falling into complete chaos. So far, Bobby has stopped a war on a stone age territory call Denduron, and an all water territory called Cloral. In the third book he travels back in time on Earth and has to make sure all the events in 1937 happen exactly the same or the whole future will fall apart.

I like the series a lot and I think it makes you think about right and wrong, and is also very suspenseful and exciting! I like that there are so many characters in the book, but it always comes down to Bobby. I also like how it was written as if Bobby is writing the book because you know how he's feeling in more depth and it gets you more connected to the characters.

Shayma

I have finished the book "American Born Chinese". It was a very good book i recommend it to all readers. Now that i have finished that book i am starting a book called "Princess Plot" I Just started the book so there's not much I can tell you all about. But as soon as i get more information on the book i will be sure to share with you all. I've been told its a challenging book but its very good and the plot of the book is awesome.

artemis fowl the arctic insodent

Artemis Fowl 2
chapters 5-7

Since I last posted, a lot has happened. I would explain it all, but it's just too complicated. If I tried to explain it all, I would probably get it wrong and or be very confusing. One thing I can say though, is that Artemis is already in Russia so I'm guessing that that's where the rest of the book is going to take place.
Also, I just realized, Artemis is Irish.
I think the books in this series are really funny and I hope I can get my hands on the sequel to this when I'm done with it.

Gaia Girls, Way of Water :Elya

This book, the second book of the four books of nature, is focused on Water.
A ten year old girl named Miho, is sent to Japan to live with an uncle that she has never met... She is sent because her parents, both whale and dolphin scientists got lost at sea, and suspected to be dead. She inherited her tall figure, and her green eyes from her father, an American; and her black silk like hair came from her Japanese mother.
In Japan; instead of being both American and Japanese, like she was in Alaska, she is Gaijin, which in Japanese means, stranger.
She and her Ojisan, (uncle) go and stay for three days at Oisan's old house, which is close to the sea, which is the most important thing for Miho. She befriends a group of dolphins, Lagenorhynchus obliquidens, a shorter name for them is the Lags.

This is a very short summary that I have managed to conjure up; for a better summary, and some fantastic books, read the Gaia girls books!

I love this series, and it has been like you are really there, watching it all happen...
I recommend this series to anyone who loves nature and can stand not being able to write like that yourself! (Joke)

Jamie's reveiw of Harry Potter 2

Now in my book Harry wants to go looking for Serious Black but Ron and Hermione don't. Later that evening they go to Hagrids hut and a creature that Hagrid looks over called a Hipogriph is going to be tied up outside his hut "until further notice."

Rincewind: Characterization in Terry Prachett's Sourcery

Terry Prachett is considered a master of fiction by many people, including myself. I think the reason he's so good at generating amazing books lies behind the characters. His main character in Sourcery, part of the Discworld series, is Rincewind, whom I like to imagine as a dumpy old wizard that smells like old books. Rincewind is characterized well because everything he thinks (even his conscience) is displayed for public viewing. There are quite a many examples; however one of my favorites is Rincewind's long bickers with his conscience. His anger at the Unseen University is portrayed well, as is his love for one of the young lady characters. One of my favorite quotes so far is:

(quote to be added here about Lettuce, do when home)

I really have enjoyed this book so far, and I'm almost at the end. However, I feel that the story would be good even with flat characters, believe it or not.

Zoe's second review of "the ruby in the smoke"

After Sally Lockhart gets interrupted from her talk with the man named Marchbanks, she leaves and the old evil woman who interrupted her follows her. Then, Sally comes across a photographer who lets her hide in his tent. When the old woman finally gets off Sally's trail, Sally gets on a train. In the train she finds a diary. Most of it's in a differant language, so Sally can't read it... but she knows it's important.

This book seems to be getting better. I hope I really like it soon... :D

zacks review of artimus fowl

In the book there was just an invasion by some goblin with guns. Something really bad would have happened if this little fairy named holly short hadn't been there. She is one of the main characters of the story she works with some other little people to make sure people(mud men don't find out about there civilization. The only 2 humans who have found out about it are Artimus fowl and Butler.

PART 1- the girl and her parents were taken to the suberbs of france and were seperated. The parents went to Alushewts(im not sure how to spel it) and the children of the families stayed behind. The children are kept in terrible conditions. no food or water. everyone of the children are throwing up and have lice. and there is no sleeping material, only straw full of rats and insectsm and there are no toilets. The girl and another girl her age named rachel start to help the other younger toddlers and decide to run away. The girls little brother is still in the closet back in Paris and she needs to go and save him. Since known of the french police ever watch the children, Rachel and the girl decide to run away in the daytime. they get on there knees and dig a whole going underneath the fence. As soon as the girl starts to try to crawl out, a police catches her. She turns around and sees that it is a police man that she knows. He helps her and her brother across the street and her mother and him always had short converstations. He remembers her too. She tells him that she has to go save her brother who is back home in the closet and he lets her and rachel go. He also gives them some money. the girl and Rachel walk for about three days when they come across a shed. They sleep inside the shed. In the morning the owneer of the shed finds them inside the shed. His name is Jules and his wife is named Geniveve. They take the two girls in and care for them. Then Rachel gets very sick. and so they call a doctor. When the doctor arrives he finds out the Rachel is a Jew and escaped from a camp(The girl is hiding in the basement) and calls the police. Jules and Geniveve get very neverous and tell the girl to go hid in the basement, so she does. The police came to the house and take Rachel away, but they dont find the girl. You find out that the girls name in Sarah Starzynski. The next morning Sarah tells the old couple that she has to go back to Paris and save her little brother(his nameis Michel). At first they resist, but then they join her. At the train they give the Nazi ticket checker the wad of money that the French Policemen gave to Sarah, and he lets her on. When she finally reaches the apartment she rings the doorbell and a little boy Sarah does not no answers. She says to him
"I am here to get my little brother Michel"
the boy says, "Im sorry, there is no Michel here"
sarah pushes the boy out the way and starts running into her old bedroom. By then another man appears(the boysfather). Sarah realizes that new people have moved into her home. She opens the door to the cupbored and this is what it said in the book
"Sarah whipped the key out of her poket, pressed on the device with her palm. The hidden lock swung into view. She heard the peel of the doorbell, a murmur of alarmed voices drawing near. Jules voice, Genevieves and an unknown man's. Fast now, she had to be fast. Over and over she mumbled "Michel, Michel, Michel, its me, Sarah" her fingers trembled so hard she dropped the key. Behind her shoulders, the boy came running out of breath. "what are you doing?" he gasped, "what are you doing in my room?". She ignored him, picked up the key and fumbled with the lock. She was to nervous, to impatient. It took her a moment to work it. Finally the lock clicked, and the door opened.. A rotten stench hit her like a fist. She drew away. The boy at her side, recoiled, afraid. Sarah fell to her knees. A tall man with salt and pepper hairburst in the room with Jules and Geniveve at his side. Sarah could not speak, she could only quiver, she fingers covering her eyes, he noes, blocking out the smell. Jules grew near, put his hand on her shoulder and glanced into the cupbored. He murmured into her ear, "come Sarah, come with me." She fought with him with all her might, scratching, kicking, all teeth and nailsand managed to scramble back and open th cupbored. In the back of the cupbored, she glimpsed a small lump of motionless, curled up body, then she sawthe beloved face, blackened, unrecognizable. She sank to her knees and screamed at the top of her lungs, she screamed for her mother, for her father, screamed for Michel" Part 1 of the story ends here.

PART2- Julia is doing lots of research on Velodrome d'Hiver. She has been talking to witenesses and survivers. She discovers that her new apartment once belonged to a jewish family that was taken in Vel d'Hiv. She decides she is determined to find out who the were and if they survived or not. He tells her not to tell anyone but he knows who Sarah is. He tells her that it was there when Sarah came to her house. He said he was only a boy and he answered the door and saw michels body in his closet. His father made him swear not to tell anyone about this, so he didnt. He told Sarah to go to the bank and look and what his father had left him, so she did. She discoveed that, her grandfather inlaw had been sending Jules money to take care of Sarah. she had looked at pictures and addresses. When got home, she did research and could not find anything about sarah, it was as though she had fell off the face of the earth. so she put in Jules granddaughters name. Akayla's review on "think twice" by Lisa Scottoline, pt. 2

Chapters 1&2

So far I have read chapters one and two of think twice. Basically what has happened so far is I have met two characters, sisters Benny Rosato and Alice Connelly. I know I said they are sisters so its a bit strange that they have different last names but this is because they were separated at birth. I have also found out that they live in and are from Philadelphia. They had found out about each other a while back and decided to become friends and get to know each other. One day while they were eating together Bennie passed out after being drugged by Alice. Alice then buried her alive in someone elses backyard and then went and fled the country, she no longer would be identified as Alice, but as her sister Bennie. Alice was already on her way to the airport and Bennie hadn't even awoken yet. When Bennie finally did wake up she had no clue what had happened, and for a moment she thought she wasn't even awake and that she was having a nightmare, it took her a while to figure out where she was and what was going on. She was pushing every where and all around the box trying to find a weak point in it, but there were none. Eventually she realized that she was wasting time and that the best thing to do was to start kicking, punching at the walls and also scream for help. But she didn't know that she wasn't in her sisters backyard so all she was doing was wasting air because the owners of the house were on vacation in the Poconos.

The Janitors Boy

There was a kid named Jack who loves all types of gum except for watermelon bubblicious. Everyday he chews fifteen pieces of gum a day, and when he's done each piece he sticks them in a plastic bag. When Jack walks into school he knows if the chefs are making strawberry jell-O or orange jell-O. He knows if the secretaries are wearing perfume. If he's on the first floor he can smell doughnuts on the second floor.
There was also a boy named Raymond that would tease Jack because Jack's dad was the school's Janitor, and call Jack's dad dum-dum. Jack though that bubblicious was three times as stickier then bazooka. Jack's gym teacher wanted the class to run one mile to stay in shape. Some students would have gum and when they were finished they would stick it under the table.

Surya's review of The Golden Compass

The Golden Compass by Madeleine L'engle is about a girl who lives in a big college in a different time era.The first chapter is about how she sneaks into a room that shes not supposed to be in because its for men only. When she sneaks in a man she calls "master" comes in after her. To avoid being seen she hides in a wardrobe and witnesses him pouring poison into another mans wine.Lord Asriel, the man who master put poison in his wine and her uncle, but when he finds her, that's when the trouble beguines.Even though I've barely read any I suggest this book to people who like fantasy and suspense.

Shayma's Review on " American Born Chinese"

I'm reading a book called " American Born Chinese" by Gene Luen. It's a comic book. The book has different stories in it and there's up to five chapters for each story. One of the stories is about a monkey king, One of the others is about a boy and his Chinese cousin, and the third one is about a Chinese boy who came to America and meets a girl that he likes. It's a really good book. I'm not done reading it yet but I will be soon. I recommend this book to anyone who like a story changing twist for a book. I found out about this book by one of my friends at PLS. The book is very funny. The book gets more aned more interesting as you go on. I dont want to say anything that happenes in the book because I might give away something. But be willing to read the book its really good like I said before.

a Game of Thrones
This book was recomended to me highly by Jonas and so far it is very good. Curently in the book (I am more than half way through) the family that is being focussed on is at the capital and is attending a tournament, in the family there are six main characters. The book is well writen and has a good/very complex plot my one complaint is that there are so many names to remember. The plot is rather hard to delve into since I am more than half way through the book but the basic plot synopsis is that there is a slightly corrupt king with an evil queen and the story follows the path of one lord and his family.

dance of dragons jonas

In the book A Dance Of Dragons by George R.R. Martin is about a lot of characters playing the game of thrones. the game of thrones is a "game" that lords and kings "play" to try to gain more lands money and power useing the smallfolk (peasents) as peices. the different characters in this book are Jon Snow son of Eddard Stark, Tyrion Lannister son of Tywin and Joana Lannister, Daenerys Targaryen daughter of King Aerys Targaryen, Barristan Selmey, Quenten Martell son of Doran Martell, John Connington, Asha Greyjoy daughter of Balon Greyjoy and Bran Stark son of Eddard Stark. My favorite characters are Jon Snow, Tyrion Lannister and Daenerys Targaryan. Jon snow is a warg wich means his conceisness can slip between himself and his direwolf Ghost he is also lord commander of the Nights Watch which connsists of a group of people who are assighned to guard the realm against the wildings who are a group of raiders and barbarians who live in the far north. Tyrion lannister heir of Casterly Rock is a dwarf who is on the run as a murdurer and has now been sold into slavery outside of meereen. Daenerys targaryen is the supposed to be heir to the westeros but her father and the rest of her family were killed during a rebellion and she ran away across the sea. i am going to give updates on these characters as the book progresses.

Braden's Review of Artemis Foul by Eion Colfer

I am reading Artemis Fowl by Eion Colfer and its about a little boy named Artemis Fowl. So far in my book Artemis has drugged an alcohol addicted sprite to get a magical book that has to do with fairies. Artemis went back to his house and he tried to crack the code in the book. Artemis eventually figured out the letters were based on Egyptian letters. Artemis printed out a page of the book, but it took allot of time to translate to English so he made his butler finish the translation. Artemis knew he had to catch a fairy so he made plans to catch one. The next chapter the introduced Holly Short, Holly is a fairy who works for the fairy military. One day Holly woke got her suit on and she got called into commander Root's office commander root was always yelling at Holly because she is the first ever girl to be in recon and she was in his squad. This time holly was called into roots office because he wanted to replace her. Holly argued that she should stay on recon Root said fine but one more screw up and your on traffic duty Holly said fine. After that Holly got called in the war room were Sgt.Folly told that Holly th.at there is a troll roaming loose on the surface of the ground. Holly took a gun then went to the pods to go to the surface of the earth. When holly got to the surface she turned on her shield. Her shield makes it so humans can not see her she eventually found the troll. Holly knocked out the troll but disobaeyed orders. When Root got to the surface of the earth he yelled at root but then said good job knocking out the troll. This nite Holly stayed on the surface of earth to preform the ritual so her magic can be regenerated.

Akayla's review on "think twice" by Lisa Scottoline, pt.1

So my grandmother read this book called "Think Twice" by Lisa Scottoline while we were on vacation once she finished it she gave it to my dad, because they usually like the same types of books. She suggested that I read the book because she really thought I'd like it, once my dad finished he wasn't to shore if I should read it because there is a bit of in-appropriate content but he let me read it anyway. He lost the book for a while but then he found it so I finally get to read it.
Anyway the book is about two twins that were separated at birth and one tries to kill the other. Now I know i was reading another book "the adventures of tom sawyer" by Mark Twain, but I decided that I wanted to take a brake on that one, and I wasn't really that far into the book anyways so I figured I'd just try this one instead. I've only gotten to page3 so far but from hearing what my dad said and what my grom (that's what I call my grandmother) said this is gonna be a good book.

Jordana's review of the " The Bar Code Tatto"

I heard about the book "The Bar Code Tattoo" a couple years ago but I just got into it. I'm only on chapter three but so far it's pretty interesting. It's set in 2025 when the world is a somewhat shockingly different place. In this time the main form of identification is a barcode tattoo on your arm. The tatto is really an acces code for all of the information on you, from you drivers licens to e-card (credit card). Everyone over seventeen has a tatto, because life would be extremely difficult with out one.
The main character is Kala, a sixteen year old artist who is completely resisten to the tatto after her dad committed suicide because of it. She does not know why the tatto on his arm drive him to that but has an aching to find out.
The obsoletely amazing leaps in technology in only fourteen years gives the book a silly sort of feel. Aside from that the concept is cool and I'm sure it just gets better

Joe's review of Tales From The Farm

Tales From the Farm by Jeff Lemire is about a 10 year old boy named Lenny. Lenny was born without any parents, so he lives and works with his uncle at a farm. He and his uncle don't get along; his uncle works Lenny to death, because he doesn't know much about kids. Lenny meets a former hockey player named Jimmy at a gas station. Jimmy turns out to be Lenny's closes and only friend. They find their way of having fun by playing hockey, dressing up as superheros and escaping to a imaginary world of protecting the earth from aliens, monsters and super villains. I like this book because it moves fast and I love the story. I love Lenny's personality and how he interacts with Jimmy. I hope it has a good ending.

Sourcery by Terry Prachett

For my most recent independent reading, I chose Sourcery by Terry Prachett. I've read another book by the same author called Truckers. I have also watched 2 movie adaptations of his Discworld books, of which Sourcery is a part of. I knew that he was going to be witty, but this book is a completely new level of wit. The  book starts with the Archchancellor (the head wizard of the wizard university) getting booted. Before the new Archchancellor gets appointed, the famous Archchancellor hat gets stolen! A dumpy old wizard named Ricewind and a young adventurer (also daughter of a legendary Viking lord) go overseas to find the hat. This is about as far as I've gotten, but I'm excited to read more.

Jahliyah's Review on The Help

So I recently saw the movie The Help and I decided to read the book to. The book is really good so far. It talks about the maids lifes and how they feel about working for wite families. The maids tell stories about there boss and stories about certian events that happened in during the time they worked for there bosses. So I suggest you see  the movie first the read the book. I say this because the you will really understand book if you watch the movie fist. It helps you really get into the book and it will help you when your reading so you dont get cofused. . So if you are intrested in the book you can buy it at Walmart for elven dollars and fourty cents. I really am enjoying this book because it is really powerful and helps see how life was in Jacskon, Mississippi in the 1996.

Maya's Review on the Pretty Little Liars Series

The girls think A is connected to the disappearance of their old best friend Ali, who disappeared in the seventh grade. They have to find out who A is, and quick.
I thought the series was amazing and I couldn't put the books down. I loved how there was never a dull moment and so many side stories were happening at once. I would recommend this book to anyone who wants a good read!

Elya's review of Gaia girls, Enter the Earth

Gaia girls, Enter the Earth is about a 10 year old girl named Elizabeth. One day, a talking otter, (who calls itself Gaia, which means mother nature= the earth itself) comes to talk to Elizabeth. She tells her that she has given her the power of the Earth, trees, and animals that roam around the earth... She can move through trees, by touching a tree and saying please and wishing to go to a specific tree.
Also, it is a book from a series of four, and the next is called Way of Water, then something about air, and I'm not sure if the fire one has been published.
I really expect a lot from this book, because Dorothy Braun recommended it to me.

Emma's Harry Potter Review

I just started reading the fith Harry Potter, The order of the phenix. The book starts off with Harry spending the beggining of the summer with the Dursly 's Harry's dreaded, only family. AnnMarie's Sarahs Keys Review

The book im reading (Sarahs Keys) is two stories that end up both linking together. It changes every other chapter. part 1 is about a girl, named sarah(im guessing because the narrorater never refers to anyones name) who lives in france in world war2. In the middle of the night the french police hold a round up (this family is jewish). In the middle of the night they get told to pack a few things and follow the police outside. Sarahs mother and her start packing, but sarahs little brother refuses to come along and sarah (thinking they will be coming home) locks him in the closet and puts the key in her pocket.
The part 2 of the story is about a woman in mordern day france who is a writer for the newspaper. She is told to write about the round up that happened in france in world war 2.

so far in the 1st part of the story the little girl finds out that they are not going back to the house and they are in a stadium thatis full of thousands of people without food or water. people are dieing and throwing up and fainting and taking their lives.

in part 2 of the book the writer is just found out her topic and is begining to research people facts and read books about it.

Zoe's review on "The Ruby in The Smoke."

I am reading "The Ruby in The Smoke," by Philipe Pullman. It's about a sixteen year old girl who's father died. A little while after, she gets a letter telling her to "beware the seven blessings," she doesn't know what that means, so she goes to someone for help. When she tells the person about the letter, he dies. She gets really freaked out, and she goes to the letter for help. In it, it says: "Marchbanks will help Chattum." She tries to contact the man in the letter named, Marchbanks. When she finally does, he starts to tell her about the letter, but gets interrupted by an evil old woman.
I find the book kind of confusing, so far. But it seems like it might get better once I understand it.

They must go on a quest to recapture the 7 lost gems of the magic Belt Of Deltora. Only when the belt is complete the shadow lord can be overthrone.

I thought that this was a great book and i suggest it to all young teen readers.

Artemis Fowl, the arctic incident chap. 1-4

So far, in the sequel to Artemis Fowl , the 13-year-old master-mind Artemis has been sent to a school for teenage boys who need emotional therapy by his mother and was a total smart-aleck there. Then, while he's having a meeting with a therapist, he gets a call on his cell phone from his body guard, Butler. It turns out that Artemis' father, who was thought to be dead, was being held captive by Russian barbarians.

Meanwhile, the fairies suspect Artemis Fowl of helping the goblins use illegal weaponry and power sources so they interrogate Artemis but he is innocent.

This book is a very hard book to understand if you haven't read the first book in the series.

Hello students,

Your first blog post is due this Friday.  Please be sure to write a full paragraph (7-10 sentences) in response to your independent reading book.  While  you should include some summary, be sure to reflect on the book.  Consider the following:

-Do  you like it?
-Would you suggest that others read it?
-Can you relate to it?
-What is your favorite part?
-How are the characters portrayed?
-How does it compare to other books you've read?
-Have you read other works by the author, and if so, how does this book compare?

Additionally, you will read a posting by one of your fellow classmates and write a brief response (just 2-5 lines).

Be creative!
