After Sally leaves the train she finds that she has lost the diary. She thinks it was stolen by the man who sat next to her. She tries to find him but it's impossible for her. This story is really old it seems like, so they use some terms that I don't really understand. They said something about her being too young to sit in the train with a man next to her... I thought that was ridiculous.
When Sally gets home to her aunt, who apparently is kind of mean to her, she gets a letter from her friend Jimmy, telling her to meet him somewhere. I am up to the part in the book where she goes and meets him. I wouldn't trust him, and I think that's stupid of her.
