Jordana's review of the " The Bar Code Tatto"

I heard about the book "The Bar Code Tattoo" a couple years ago but I just got into it. I'm only on chapter three but so far it's pretty interesting. It's set in 2025 when the world is a somewhat shockingly different place. In this time the main form of identification is a barcode tattoo on your arm. The tatto is really an acces code for all of the information on you, from you drivers licens to e-card (credit card). Everyone over seventeen has a tatto, because life would be extremely difficult with out one.
The main character is Kala, a sixteen year old artist who is completely resisten to the tatto after her dad committed suicide because of it. She does not know why the tatto on his arm drive him to that but has an aching to find out.
The obsoletely amazing leaps in technology in only fourteen years gives the book a silly sort of feel. Aside from that the concept is cool and I'm sure it just gets better

  3. It sounds like an interesting concept, but I agree that fourteen years sounds like a miniscule amount of time for such a drastic change. It sounds like it has similar themes to the book 1984 by George Orwell, which is one of my favorites.
