The Anybodies is a really great book about a girl named Fern. Fern lives in a really boring home, with really boring parents. Their names are Mr. and Mrs. Drudger. Fern has always thought that she doesn't belong with her family, because first of all she doesn't look at all like her parents... she has curly hair and huge eyes... while her parents have straight hair and thin narrow eyes. Fern's thoughts turn out to be true when a man comes to call on their home. He tells the Drudgers that Fern actually belongs to him, and that their mid wife who was there when Fern was being born, had accidently switched her and another baby. So the man gave the Drudgers a boy, and took Fern with him. When they got to his house, he told her that he was an Anybody, and that meant that he could change into anything he wanted to... but he couldn't do it so well anymore because he was older. Fern learns that she is an Anybody too.
Then they go to Fern's grandmother's house to try and find her mother's diary which supposedly could help them fight an evil man named the Miser. When they get there they pretend to be Mr Bibb and his daughter Ida... who are fake people. They find out that Fern can shake people/objects out of books, which is a very good thing. The Miser than kidnappes Fern's father, and Fern goes to rescue him. She ends up saving him with her grandmother who it turns out, actually knew all along who Fern really was.
I really loved this book, and I would reccomend it to anyone who likes fantasy.
I love this book, I have read the sequel and the book after that, (I don't know what that is called) and they are all just as good as the first.
